Media Relations Officer
£33,500 per annum
Fixed Term contract to March 2029, Full-time 37 hours
Hybrid (3 days in the Loughborough Office and 2 days working from home)

As Media Relations Officer, you will play a key role in delivering our overall MarComms plan, designing a programme of media and PR activity that support our objectives and priorities. You will develop compelling key messages and bring to life powerful case studies that demonstrate the impact of our work. You will build strong relationships with national, regional and specialist media, handle media enquiries, manage relationships with our high-profile ambassadors, prepare our spokespeople for media opportunities. You will also contribute to reputation and crisis communications, helping to ensure YST responds effectively to emerging media issues. You will monitor and evaluate media activity, using insight and learning to continually improve our approach.

You will have proven PR experience in a press office or media role with national scope and an eye for a good story. You will have experience of developing proactive media activity and building effective relationships with journalists and other key stakeholders. With strong writing and editorial skills, you will be able to identify compelling stories, communicate confidently with different audiences and handle sensitive issues with sound judgement. Organised and collaborative, you will be comfortable taking the initiative, manage competing priorities and working at pace when required.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
