Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre is looking for a new Treasurer to join its Board of Trustees at an important stage in its development.

The Role

The Centre’s tennis, padel and pickleball courts make up the largest indoor venue of its type in Wales and one of the largest in the UK, hosting regional, national and international tournaments, including the Lexus Wrexham Open. After a period of financial difficulty, the Centre has strengthened its Board, appointed its first Chief Executive and invested substantially in its facilities.

This is a governance and strategic oversight role – not routine bookkeeping or preparing accounts. The Treasurer will also sit on the Finance & Operations Committee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help the Board understand and scrutinise the Centre’s financial position, budgets, forecasts, cash flow and financial risks
  • Provide constructive challenge to management and professional advisers
  • Help the Board assess the financial implications of major decisions, including investment, affordability and reserves
  • Support the continuing development of strong financial governance
  • Serve on the Finance & Operations Committee

About You

  • Significant experience in finance, accountancy, financial management, commercial finance or a senior business role with substantial financial responsibility
  • Confident reading and interpreting accounts, budgets, forecasts and management information
  • Able to explain financial matters clearly to Trustees from non-financial backgrounds
  • Sound judgement, independence and integrity, and an understanding of the difference between governance and management
  • A professional accountancy or finance qualification is highly desirable but not essential
  • Previous Trustee or non-executive experience is useful but not essential

Key Details

  • Location: Plas Coch Road, Wrexham
  • Role: Voluntary Trustee and Treasurer
  • Process: Expression of interest (CV and covering letter), informal discussion with the Chair, a visit to the Centre and a formal interview with Trustees
  • Closing date: 27 November 2026
