The Person

Essential

  • BSc in Physiotherapy.
  • CSP membership and HCPC registration.
  • Excellent IT Skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current pitch side training qualifications to meet the WRU Minimum Standards Criteria

Desirable

  • MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management
  • Ability to communicate and work through the medium of Welsh is desirable

The Role

As a member of the WRU Medical team, the post holder will:

  • Be present and provide Physiotherapy services at all training days and fixtures for the Women’s National squad.
  • At the discretion of the WRU Women’s National Squad Lead Physiotherapist, provide Physiotherapy services to identified WRU National team players outside of competition phases and act as Lead Physiotherapist with a Celtic Challenge team.
  • Support the development and implementation of female specific injury prevention programs and player wellbeing education for the Women’s National Squad and as required for Women’s National Age Grade teams.
  • Assist with pre- and post-campaign screening of international players to include medical history, demographic data, cognitive baseline testing, cardiac screening, consent and musculoskeletal assessment.
  • Maintain up to date medical records as per professional body standards using the WRU IT communications platform.
  • Communicate information regarding injuries with players, their parents, coaches and team management and other relevant player stakeholders, whilst observing the rules governing professional confidentiality and General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Be compliant with all relevant World Rugby player welfare and participation training modules.
  • Act in accordance with World Rugby and WRU protocols for graded return to play during the management of concussion injury incurred by Women’s National team players, and, be familiar with use of the SCRM app as part of this process.
  • Attend, contribute to and provide regular reports at appropriate meetings associated with the Women’s programme and to key stakeholders.
  • Participate in and show a commitment to applied research across the organisation as appropriate including female health initiatives.
  • Attend national meetings and workshops, training courses and visit national sites on occasion and as appropriate.
  • Carry out duties to help support the WRU mission statement in line with the Company’s core values.
  • Any other duties as may be requested.

  • Valid UK driving licence is required
  • This role is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and reviewed regularly in line with regulated/professional/recruitment/policy activity and policy requirements

WRU Requirements

The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver's License is desirable. This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
