The Person
· Previous experience in safeguarding is preferred.
- Knowledge of, or involvement in, sport.
- Experience working within a sports governing body or similar organisation, ideally in a safeguarding or regulatory role.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience in database management.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Strong teamworking skills.
· Excellent knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies, procedures and best practice.
· The ability to communicate and work through the medium of Welsh is desirable.
The Role
· Building Positive Relationships with clubs through club visits to support and develop Safeguarding Best Practice.
- Responsible as the first point of contact to support Club Safeguarding Officers and Club Committees relating to safeguarding matters.
- Responsible for promoting Safeguarding Training opportunities.
- Responsible for promoting the Safeguarding Toolkit and other safeguarding resources.
- Planning and Co-ordinating support for clubs in developing their Club Safeguarding Plans.
- Responsible for co-ordinating and delivering CSO induction training.
- Quality Assurance responsibilities to establish commitment to the Club Safeguarding Plans
- Responsible for supporting Clubs in the investigation of Lower-Level Concerns.
- Conducting Safeguarding Risk Assessments in relation to Safe Recruitment
- Provide additional resilience in other aspects of Safeguarding (Case Management, Safe Recruitment and other Safeguarding Practice) when required.
- Supporting other functions in the Integrity Regulatory and Competitions Dept. (Discipline; Player Welfare; Anti-Doping; Competitions) when required
- Working with key partners to deliver Safe and Inclusive Environments in line with the WRU Strategy

WRU Requirements
The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is desirable. This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
