As a member of the Independent Anti-Doping Advisory Group, you will play a critical role in promoting integrity and fairness in the WRU by providing expert guidance and strategic advice on anti-doping matters. This voluntary position supports the development and implementation of best practice policies, procedures, and systems to ensure a robust and ethical approach to doping control and education.
Key responsibilities include advising on policy development, case management, sector training needs, and identifying emerging trends or significant cases for learning. Members also contribute to setting research and evaluation priorities, promoting a multi-agency collaboration, and advising on the strategic allocation of resources and funding.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience or expertise in anti-doping, sport governance, legal or regulatory frameworks, healthcare, or relevant academic disciplines, who are committed to supporting clean sport through strategic leadership and informed, independent advice.
The Person
· Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management
· Strong understanding of anti-doping principles and frameworks (e.g. WADA Code)
· Experience in developing or advising on policies, procedures, or governance structure, ideally in sport, health, or regulatory sectors
· Familiarity with investigative, legal, or disciplinary case management, especially in doping or compliance contexts.
· Experience identifying training needs or delivering education programs.
· Ability to interpret or advise on research, trends, and evidence to inform best practice and policy decisions.
Proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders such as sports bodies, medical professionals, law enforcement, or regulatory agencies.
The Role
· Foster and promote best practice in anti-doping through the development of effective policies and procedures.
· Promote effective multi-agency collaboration.
· Advise and make recommendations on best practice models for case management.
· Provide input on anti-doping training needs.
· Identify and highlight significant current or historical doping cases or trends for sector learning and dissemination.
· Advise on priorities for research and evaluation to support anti-doping efforts.
WRU Requirements
The WRU require that individuals are proficient in IT skills, specifically Microsoft packages. Excellent written and verbal communications are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a Valid UK Driver's License is desirable. This role is subject to a basic/enhanced DBS check.
