At Warwick Sport it's our aim to inspire everyone to get active every day. We understand that 'active' means different things to different people, that's why we run a huge range of activities and programmes to cater for any ability
Warwick Sport is looking for a Sport Engagement Officer to help grow Warwick Active, our programme of social, casual and semi-competitive sport for students and staff.
Warwick Active aims to get more of the university community taking part in sport regularly. It does this through inclusive activities that match what students and staff want to play and that tackle the things stopping people getting involved. In this hands-on development role, you’ll design new activities, run leagues and ladders, and build partnerships across campus and beyond.
What you’ll be doing
- Creating new ways to play: designing and launching casual and social sport sessions based on what students and staff want and the facilities available
- Running leagues and ladders: managing and expanding intra-mural competitions, and building a Halls Sports Programme with Warwick Accommodation and the Students’ Union
- Building partnerships: working with the SU Sports and Societies Officers, sports clubs and departments across the University, and with external partners such as National Governing Bodies, Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire Sport, and local clubs and facility providers
- Finding new funding: working with the Active Programme Manager on bids for extra funding to expand the programme
- Listening and measuring: gathering feedback, tracking impact and reporting results to Sport England
Promoting the programme: working with our marketing team on promotional material, social media and web content, and sharing what the programme achieves
- Helping at big moments: supporting events such as Open Days and the Sports Fair
What you’ll bring
- A sport-related degree or equivalent experience
- Broad knowledge of sport, plus an understanding of how sport is structured in the UK and the local, regional and national initiatives that drive physical activity
- Experience of organising casual and social sport, and of creating new initiatives that get more people taking part
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, so everyone who takes part feels welcome and safe
- Good organisation: you can juggle priorities, meet deadlines under pressure and work on your own initiative while being a great team player
- Confidence with Microsoft Office and Outlook, and a willingness to keep learning
- A flexible approach, including availability to work some evenings and weekends
It would be great if you also have
- Experience of working in Higher Education
- NGB coaching awards (Level 1 & 2)
- Knowledge of the local area and its sport and recreation providers
- A First Aid qualification
- A recognised IT qualification
If you want a job where you can see your work in a busier sports hall, a full league table and people getting active who never thought sport was for them, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply through the following link https://www.warwickemploymentg...
