The Role
We’re currently recruiting a Performance Scientist to join our Performance Department working collaboratively with the physical performance, nutrition and psychology disciplines to drive best practice performance services.
The aim of the role is to drive innovative real-world research projects aimed at advancing the understanding and barriers to optimising female athlete performance, health, and wellbeing. The Performance Scientist will serve as a bridge between performance and data management, supporting the delivery and advancement of our performance strategies.
About You
What you will bring
- Undergraduate degree in appropriate subject (e.g. Sports Science, Exercise Physiology or relevant bachelors degree considered)
- Post-graduate qualification in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology or Data Science
- Experience using athlete management systems
- Experience using data visualisation software (Tableau, Power BI)
- Experience of data coding (R, Python, Dax etc.)
- Experience of scoping and identifying performance/health impacting questions and the use of innovative methods which promote and seek competitive advantage
- Ability to collect, organise, clean, analyse and interpret performance related data to maximise player performance and well-being
- Ability to implement data quality control practices at all phases of data collection
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and the importance of player, coach, and support staff perspectives
- Ability to lead and/or contribute to knowledge development, aggregation, and dissemination across the organisation
- Experience in professional sport, ideally women’s, with an interest in football
- An understanding of female athlete health topics and the gaps in current research
- Experience with gym and pitch-based delivery in elite sport
- Experience of operating GPS tracking systems
- Display evidence of continued professional development and utilise this to provide ideas of research-based innovative, practical strategies that are tailored to elite footballers
- Any other adhoc duties as deemed necessary to support the performance department
- An understanding of the various sports science/sports medicine disciplines, how they integrate to achieve optimal performance and a verifiable record of working within a high performance multi-disciplinary team to deliver an effective programme
- Flexible, adaptable, creative, and a confident communicator
- Full UK Driving License desired
