The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious.
As a Seasonal Groundsperson, you will support the seasonal maintenance, presentation and preparation of the AELTC’s grass courts and other playing surfaces across all venues. Working as part of the Groundstaff team during the busiest operational periods, you will help deliver exceptional standards for Members, their guests, The Championships and other events while developing practical experience in professional sports turf management. This role has an extended recruitment period with the start date in March/April 2027 and is a 7 month fixed term contract.

The Groundstaff Department delivers year-round maintenance and state of the art preparation for The Championships, which sees around 3,500 hours of use during The Championships.
During The Championships period your role will help to support the AELTC’s goal of delivering the world’s premier tennis tournament and supporting one of the world’s most prestigious tennis clubs.
Your role will help provide support across all venues, including The All England Lawn Tennis Club (Championships) Limited (Wimbledon), The All England Club Community Sports Ground (Raynes Park), The Wimbledon Qualifying and Community Sports Centre (Roehampton) and surrounding areas.
The qualifications, licences, knowledge and experience listed below are essential requirements for the role. Experience with clay, hard or covered courts would be advantageous.

Working pattern
The role is seasonal and based on 40 hours per week. Flexibility is required to meet the demands of the job, including working in accordance with rota and shift patterns that may include additional hours, days, evenings and weekends.
To support the delivery of The Championships and other events across all venues, there may be a requirement to work different rota patterns and extended hours during peak operational periods.

The Groundstaff Department’s role is to maintain grass, clay, hard and covered courts and the croquet lawns for year-round use by Members and guests and to fully prepare the courts for The Championships using the latest technology combined with extensive experience and skills.

The Groundstaff Department, based at The All England Club Community Sports Ground (Raynes Park) and The Wimbledon Qualifying and Community Sports Centre (Roehampton), delivers year-round maintenance of hard courts, football pitches, rugby pitches and cricket facilities including the daily maintenance of ornamental, other grass areas and car parks and state of the art preparation for our Qualifying Competition and The Championships.
