Job description
To attend to players, their entourage and other eligible individuals during the Championships, as a member of the AELTC Medical Team and to support good medical governance within the Medical Centre.

Background
The All England Lawn Tennis Club (Championships) Limited (AELTC) organises and stages The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships. The Championships attract over 500,000 visitors every year and has a global television audience of up to 1 billion people.
The AELTC Medical team provide care for all players and eligible player support staff. Medical cover is delivered from a central medical facility, with additional facilities based at Qualifying and Practice / Junior player hubs, as well as courtside when required. General Practice, Sport & Exercise Medicine, physiotherapy and podiatry are all provided on site. The AELTC Medical team work closely with physiotherapists from the ATP and WTA.
Main Responsibilities
- Work as part of a clinical multi-disciplinary team that includes GP, SEM, Physiotherapists, Soft Tissue Therapists, Podiatrists and Consultant Radiologists
- Greet and triage patients wishing to see a health care professional, making any necessary referrals to other members of the primary health care team
- Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures, and be responsible for the storage and destruction of records as required
- Utilise electronic databases for the recording of patient interactions in line with AELTC, WTA and ATP requirements
- Facilitate the collection, and tracking, of pathological specimens including intravenous blood samples, swabs etc. to support clinical decision making
- Treating and management of minor wounds, injuries or illnesses as appropriate
- Arrange patient referrals for diagnostic / treatment required at external practices or with external specialists
- Restocking and maintenance of clinical areas and consulting rooms; escalating any equipment requirements as necessary and maintaining a contemporaneous audit of stock
- Support the maintenance of high levels of audit and governance
- Undertake daily audits as required by the CMO and Governance Lead
- Support the medicines management processes within the Medical Centre / On Court bags; working with the Governance Lead in ordering and maintaining adequate stock levels of medications in line with the AELTC formulary and undertaking daily stock audits
- Assist in the development of processes to support CQC standards; Support the maintenance of high levels of audit and governance
- Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control within the medical centre
- Undertake administrative duties including responding to phone / email communications, maintaining accurate records of AELTC Medical Team Meetings
- Maintain high levels of professionalism and confidentiality at all times
Other Information
- On a day-to-day basis be responsible to the Player Medical Lead and Primary Care Doctor.
- Communicate closely with the GP, nurses and SEM physicians based in the Millennium Building’s central medical facility
Person Specification
Qualifications:
- Recognised appropriate medical qualification
- Current NMC or HCPC registration
Experience:
- Primary Care / Emergency or Urgent Care Department experience
- Experience of working within elite sport (not necessarily tennis), including liaising with athletes & coaching staff is highly desirable
- Experience of administration in a clinical environment and maintaining accurate clinical records
Professional:
- Compliant with annual professional appraisal requirements, including maintenance of continuing professional development
- Evidence of current statutory and mandatory training and willingness to undertake any necessary training for the role
- Have full understanding of professional behaviours expected in the elite sporting environment, including high levels of confidentiality
- Have awareness of sensitivities and professional standards required to work in elite sporting environment
- Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality
Skills:
- Ability to use essential data management systems and IT systems (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary clinical team
- Ability to develop productive relationships with other staff members, players and coaching staff and healthcare professionals

Conditions of work
- Specific working days are variable and agreed on an annual basis and average 7 days per year
- The post holder will be employed directly by the AELTC for duration of the post and will be remunerated by the AELTC at a rate to be decided by the Head of Professional Tennis
- The post holder will be required to demonstrate an appropriate level of professional indemnity cover to be able to practice in this clinical environment
- Based within Millennium Building but may be required to work at Aorangi or Roehampton Medical Facilities
- A food allowance is provided on working days
- A uniform is provided to be worn during the Championships and Qualifying Events
