ROLE PURPOSE

Reporting to the Interim Head of Pathway Development, this exciting maternity cover role is essential to supporting the education and development of table tennis talent in England. You will take the lead on the DiSE programme, identifying and recruiting appropriate learners to the programme and owning all aspects of delivery and assessment.

The role is expected to be partly based in the newly established GB Youth Academy based at Grantham College circa 50 days of the year (specific times to be agreed in blocks), supporting talented players to excel.

Finally, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of a talent coaching project – The ‘Back to Basics’ Hopes Curriculum, a series of resources designed to support coaches to facilitate optimal sessions in the U12 age group that will involve collaborating with the Coach Learning & Development Manager on the delivery of this programme.
The role is anticipated to start in January 2026.

THE OPPORTUNITY


This is an exciting opportunity to deliver and assess the Level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) qualification for Table Tennis England, to support the coaching in the pathway at the GB Youth Academy and play a key role in the delivery of an early development coaching project.

It is anticipated that 0.5 of the role will be allocated to the DiSE programme, with 0.3 allocated to GBYA coaching support and supporting our new coach development initiative. The role is offered based on a hybrid work model with a mix of working from home, Grantham College, and other locations across England.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIESS


DiSE Programme

- To identify and recruit appropriate learners to the DiSE programme for the 2026-27 year
- Delivery and assessment of all units of DiSE for the Table Tennis England cohort (with support from one other coach) to foster and encourage improvement of student’s academic and table tennis ability
- To lead on the organisation and delivery of DiSE table tennis camps (held 4 x in the year at Grantham College) and identify wider training/competitive opportunities for players on the programme
- To hold online check in sessions for DiSE players
- To lead on the annual DiSE international competition
- To be accountable for the welfare, experience, performance, and success of Table Tennis DiSE students
- To be accountable for timely registers, schemes of work, delivery timetables and assessment as schedules required by the internal and external verifiers
- To be accountable for the tracking of DiSE progress for all students
- To attend DiSE continued professional development arranged by Table Tennis England
- To deliver the 26-27 DiSE induction to parents and players
- To support Table Tennis England in the collection of formal feedback from DiSE students regarding the programme of delivery
- To communicate upcoming assignments and deadlines
- To support with the development of any promotional resources for the programme

Pathway Coach Support


- Spend approximately 50 days a year (to be agreed in specific blocks with the GB Youth Academy Head Coach) at Grantham College supporting the newly established GB Youth Academy (to begin Feb 2026)
- To attend 1 x international event with GB Youth Academy players

Coach Development Project


- Support with any final developments and the delivery of the new Back to Basics ‘Hopes Curriculum’ – a collection of session plans and content designed to upskill coaches and clubs to deliver the early basics with U12 players
- In collaboration with the Coach Learning & Development Manager, create and deliver an educational plan to ensure clubs and coaches are delivering the curriculum, ensuring that Area Managers are educated on the area
- Develop or add any relevant content to the resources following initial implementation

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge and Experience


- A tutor and assessor qualification & experience of tutor/assessor delivery or qualified teacher status (holding a tutoring and assessing qualification is desirable but we can look at options to quicky upskill suitable candidates if necessary) [D]
- Relevant experience in a talent table tennis coaching role [E]
- Full clean driving license [E]
