South Derbyshire District Council is looking for two enthusiastic and motivated Active Communities & Health Coaches to join its Active Communities & Health Team.
The Role
You will coordinate, lead and deliver physical activity, health and wellbeing programmes that support healthier, more active lifestyles across South Derbyshire.
Role 1 focuses on the Get Active in the Forest programme, delivering activities such as walking and Nordic walking, cycling, archery, chair-based exercise, jogging groups and family holiday activities, and recruiting and developing volunteers. Role 2 leads the council’s evening youth provision using a youth work approach, alongside School Enrichment, corporate bookings and the Summer Activities programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver inclusive physical activity and wellbeing sessions for people of all ages and abilities
- Adapt sessions to participants’ needs, abilities and motivations
- Recruit, motivate and develop volunteers
- Lead youth groups, targeted projects and outreach activity (Role 2)
- Support the Playscheme and Holiday Activity and Food programmes
- Help people overcome barriers to participation
About You
- Experience delivering physical activity, health or youth programmes
- Able to engage a wide range of audiences, from children to older adults
- Able to build relationships and inspire confidence
- Passionate about making activity accessible, enjoyable and rewarding
Key Details
- Location: Across South Derbyshire, with offices in Swadlincote (DE11 0AH)
- Contract: Fixed term, part time (18.5 hours per week); two posts
- Salary: £26,847 per annum pro rata
