The Events Director is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, commercial performance and operational delivery of all events hosted at StoneX Stadium and any events delivered externally by Saracens.
The role sits at the centre of the club’s GROW strategy, which seeks to transform Saracens into a commercially sustainable entertainment and events business by maximising the use of StoneX Stadium as a year-round venue for sport, live entertainment and business events.

The Events Director has ultimate accountability for the planning, safety, commercial performance and operational delivery of all events across the stadium portfolio. This includes oversight of:

• Saracens matchdays
• public entertainment events
• conferences and partner activations
• athletics competitions and school sports days
• rugby camps and grassroots participation events

The role leads the development of a diverse and commercially successful events calendar, balancing the delivery of core Saracens matchday activity with the expansion of public, corporate and partner events.

Working closely with the Commercial Director and senior leadership team, the Events Director ensures that StoneX Stadium operates as a best-in-class live events venue, delivering safe, engaging and commercially successful events throughout the year.
The role also provides leadership to the stadium’s Events team, overseeing the work of Producers and Executives responsible for matchdays, athletics events, participation programmes and conferences.

Key Responsibilities

Events Strategy & Commercial Growth

• Develop and implement the stadium’s events strategy aligned with the club’s commercial objectives and long-term growth plans.
• Expand the stadium’s portfolio of public, corporate and owned events, identifying new opportunities that drive revenue, footfall and brand visibility.
• Identify and develop new use cases for StoneX Stadium, maximising the commercial potential of stadium spaces for sport, entertainment and business events.
• Own the commercial performance of the events portfolio, including budget setting, forecasting and margin management.
• Work with internal stakeholders to ensure the events programme supports wider club objectives including fan growth, partner engagement and commercial development.

Matchday & Public Event Leadership

• Act as the senior lead for the delivery of Saracens matchdays and major public events.
• Ensure matchdays deliver engaging, entertainment-led experiences while maintaining the highest operational and safety standards.
• Oversee the production and delivery of public events hosted at StoneX Stadium including concerts, festivals, community sporting events and third-party events.
• Ensure effective operational planning for all events including production schedules, site planning, entertainment delivery and supplier coordination.
• Lead relationships with leagues, governing bodies, broadcasters, promoters and rights holders.

Athletics Programme Oversight

Provide strategic oversight of the stadium’s athletics programme, including:

• athletics competitions
• school sports days
• athletics club meetings

Ensure athletics events are effectively integrated within the stadium’s wider events calendar while maintaining the stadium’s readiness for matchdays and other commercial events.

Oversee the delivery of rugby camps, youth festivals and grassroots participation events hosted at the stadium.

Ensure participation programmes contribute to the club’s broader fan engagement and community development objectives.

Operational Oversight & Compliance

• Maintain ultimate accountability for the safe and compliant delivery of all stadium events.
• Ensure robust operational planning across stewarding, medical services, security, transport, catering and technical infrastructure.
• Work closely with the Stadium Safety Officer and relevant authorities to ensure all events comply with licensing, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure operational readiness across the stadium for matchdays, athletics events and public events.

Leadership & Team Development

Build and lead a high-performing Events team responsible for the delivery of the stadium’s events programme.

Direct reports include:

• Events Producer (Public, Matchdays)
• Events Producer (Conferences & Activations)
The Events Director also provides leadership and oversight across the wider events delivery team including:
• Events Executive (Conferences & Activations)
• Operations & Events Executive
• Events Executive (Public, Matchdays)
• Sports Delivery & Matchday Events Executive
• Events Safety Executive
• Next Generation Engagement Manager

Set clear objectives, performance standards and development pathways for the team.

Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement across the events function.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as a senior internal and external stakeholder representing the stadium and events function.

Develop strong relationships with:

• league partners and governing bodies
• promoters and event organisers
• schools and athletics clubs
• commercial partners and sponsors

Collaborate closely with the Marketing, Hospitality, Customer Experience, Operations and Commercial teams to maximise the success of stadium events.

Ensure the events programme aligns with broader commercial and operational priorities across the club.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Essential

• Significant experience leading large-scale public events such as festivals, concerts or major sporting events.
• Proven experience operating within complex venue environments such as stadiums, arenas or large event spaces.
• Strong commercial and financial management capability.
• Demonstrable leadership experience managing large events teams or multi-disciplinary production teams.
• Strong understanding of event safety, operational planning and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable

• Experience working with promoters, broadcasters and production partners.
• Experience developing new event formats or entertainment-led experiences.
• Experience delivering events within professional sports environments.
• Strong network of suppliers and industry contacts within live entertainment and events.
