Royal Russell School, a leading co-educational independent school in South London, is looking for a Sports Graduate to work mainly in its Senior School, with opportunities in the Junior School.
The Role
The school is looking for someone who can teach one or more of football, netball, hockey or cricket to a high level, or who has qualifications and experience in other sports it offers – basketball, swimming, trampolining or strength and conditioning.
You will join a department of 35 staff led by the Director of Sport, Health and Fitness. There may be opportunities to gain experience of classroom teaching of academic PE, and successful candidates may be supported through an on-the-job PGCE in a second year. Those on a university sandwich year will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality sessions across all age groups, including extra-curricular activities
- Take a proactive role in the whole-school sports programme
- Take responsibility for teams, including selection, leadership and officiating
- Communicate weekly with parents about team sheets
- Support weekend fixtures, trips, activities and sports tours
- Contribute to pupil welfare, behaviour and pastoral care
- Attend Sport Scholarship Day, Royal Russell Day, Open Day and the Saturday sports programme
About You
- Has played to first-team level or gained coaching experience through school, club or university
- Potential to teach and coach sport to pupils aged 3 to 18
- Motivated and values-driven, balancing high standards with respect and support
- The ability to complete sports analysis is an advantage but not essential
