As the Club enters its next phase of development, there is a clear focus on strengthening commercial performance, modernising operations and enhancing the overall member and visitor experience.

The Role

Newcastle West Golf Club is seeking to appoint a Commercial and Operations Manager to lead the Club’s business operations, commercial performance and day-to-day management.
This senior leadership role is suited to a highly motivated individual with strong commercial, operational and marketing capability, ideally within the golf, sports or leisure sector. A passion for golf and the member experience would be a strong advantage.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving revenue growth, improving profitability, optimising operations and enhancing the Club’s brand and reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Performance & Revenue Growth
    Drive income growth across memberships, green fees, golf tours, classics and new commercial opportunities.
  • Strategic Planning
    Work with the Management Council and key stakeholders to develop and implement a clear medium-term strategic plan.
  • Financial Management & Cost Control
    Prepare and manage budgets, control costs, improve profitability and actively manage cash flow and credit control.
  • Marketing & Brand Development
  • Lead marketing and promotional activity, both digital and local, to raise the Club’s profile and market position.
  • Operational Leadership
    Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the Club, ensuring efficient, professional and member-focused delivery.
  • Planning, Reporting & KPIs
    Develop operational plans, set targets and report regularly on performance against agreed KPIs.
  • Systems & Digital Development
    Maximise the use of existing club systems and lead the development of new solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Member & Visitor Experience
    Continually enhance the member and visitor experience through structured feedback and measurable performance indicators.
  • People Leadership
  • Lead, motivate and develop staff, fostering a strong team culture and high standards of
    service.
  • Events & Competitions
    Support the planning, promotion and delivery of club competitions, open events and
    member activities.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

  • Proven experience in commercial or business management, ideally within golf, sport or
    leisure
  • Strong financial and analytical capability
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills
  • Commercially creative with a results-driven mindset
  • Experience with club management systems, digital marketing platforms and event tools is
    desirable

Reporting Structure

  • Reports to the Chairperson and Honorary Secretary of the Management Council
  • All office and administrative staff report to the Manager
  • The Course Superintendent and course staff report to the Honorary Secretary and Chairperson of the Course Committee, with the Manager holding a dotted-line responsibility for course presentation and day-to-day coordination
