THE NEWCASTLE RED BULLS ACADEMYT
he Newcastle Red Bulls Academy exists to identify, develop and support the next generation of Premiership and international rugby players. Based at Kingston Park and across our regional pathway, the Academy provides a high-performance environment for talented young athletes, combining world-class coaching, physical development and performance support.
The Academy is central to the long-term success of Newcastle Red Bulls. Our aim is to create a clear, aligned pathway into the senior squad, underpinned by strong values, evidence-based coaching and best-in-class performance support services, with analysis at the heart of how we develop players.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Senior Academy Analyst will play a central role in Newcastle Red Bulls’ player development programme. You will work closely with talented Academy players and coaches to drive performance through cutting-edge analysis and innovative feedback methods.This role leads the analysis provision across the senior Academy, supporting the delivery of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and ensuring coaches and players have the insight they need to maximise potential. You will also support first team analysis where required and contribute to our talent identification and recruitment processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead the analysis provision across the Academy programme, acting as the primary point of contact for all senior Academy analysis needs.
• Provide regular, detailed and accurate video and statistical reports of player and team performance for players and the coaching team.
• Deliver and present in-depth insight into the development of senior Academy players throughout the season, aligned to each player’s Individual Development Plan (IDP).
• Lead the matchday analysis provision for ‘A’ Team, loan club and Red Bulls university fixtures, including live and post-match analysis, data collection and reporting.
• Support the Foundations Phase talent Identification programmes, including assessment days and festivals.
• Support the first team performance analysis department when required to enhance player development and strengthen the transition from Academy to senior rugby.
• Manage all match and training footage and associated data, ensuring effective coding, storage, archiving and accessibility for future analysis.
• Continue to research and implement innovative feedback methods, while delivering best-practice analysis processes and content using creative learning principles.
• Provide education and support to upskill coaches and players in the use of analysis tools and outputs, building strong working relationships across the multi-disciplinary team.
• Ensure alignment and sharing of player insights, video and information across the entire Academy system and with relevant senior club staff.
• Manage and maintain all senior Academy analysis hardware and software, liaising with IT and external providers to ensure reliability and performance.
• Support the Academy team and Head of Recruitment with Talent ID, including the analysis and profiling of prospective players and ongoing monitoring of key targets.
• Develop and maintain strong links with the wider performance analysis community to stay abreast of emerging trends, technology and best practice.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
• Quality, accuracy and timeliness of analysis reports and presentations to coaches and players.
• Measurable impact of analysis on individual player development and progression against IDPs.
• Quality and reliability of video, data collection, coding and archiving processes.
• Feedback from Academy and first team coaches on the value and usability of analysis support.
• Effectiveness of collaboration and information sharing across the Academy and senior rugby environment.
• Evidence of innovation in feedback methods, learning design and use of analysis technology.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Proven experience in delivering performance analysis services within a high-performance sporting environment (academy or professional level).
• Previous experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (eg coaches, S&C, medical, psychology).
• High level of rugby union knowledge and understanding; previous playing or refereeing experience is advantageous.
• Demonstrable experience using Hudl products (e.g. Sportscode, Studio) for data collection, coding and presentation.
• Experience using data visualisation software (e.g. Tableau, Power BI) to communicate insight clearly and effectively.
• Excellent IT skills, including strong experience with Apple products and common office software.
• Ability to self-manage, plan and prioritise workload in a demanding, fast-moving environment.
• Proven experience of working to tight deadlines, including evenings and weekends around the rugby calendar.
• A full, valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.

• Leadership and Self-Development: You will lead the analysis plan for the Academy and recruitment department, managing the Academy Analyst and setting clear standards and processes. You take ownership of your own development, staying up to date with the latest analysis tools, methods and research to continually enhance the service you provide.
• Relationship Building: You build strong, trusting relationships with players, coaches and support staff, contributing positively to a high-performance culture.
• Attention to Detail: High standards of accuracy in coding, data management, reporting and presentation.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
• Experience within a professional rugby environment (club, union or high-level academy).
• Previous involvement in player talent identification and recruitment processes.
• Experience designing and delivering education for players and coaches on the use of performance analysis.
• Knowledge of athlete development pathways and long-term player development models.
