This key national role supports the delivery of NZR’s Coach Development Plan as part of the Community Rugby Strategy. You will provide subject‑matter expertise and lead a systems‑level approach to developing community coaches, ensuring coaching is rewarding, effective and delivers meaningful experiences for players. Working closely with Provincial Unions and key stakeholders, you will support the design and delivery of coach development plans, coaching workforces and coaching cohorts, while contributing to nationally developed initiatives and essential coaching services. The role reports to the Participation and Coach Development Manager and provides leadership across the rugby system.

About You

You will bring proven coach development leadership within rugby, experience across junior, teenage and/or women and girls coaching environments, strong understanding of the modern game, and the ability to influence through high‑quality facilitation, communication and relationships. Relevant coaching and tertiary qualifications in sport, education or management are preferred.
