BOUT NEW ZEALAND CRICKET - KO WAI MĀTOU

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) is the national governing body for cricket in Aotearoa New Zealand. As a not-for-profit National Sports Organisation, NZC is responsible for the guardianship, promotion, and administration of cricket in New Zealand, including national teams, players, and competitions.

NZC's strategic vision, He kēmu rorotu mō Aotearoa ("New Zealand's Favourite Game"), reflects a commitment to ensuring cricket is "A game for all; a game for life" (he kēmu mō te katoa, he kēmu orange roa).

Achieving this vision requires a cohesive, aligned, and high-trust cricket system in which NZC, Major Associations (MAs), New Zealand Cricket Players' Association (NZCPA) and communities work together so cricket can thrive at all levels.

ROLE SUMMARY - TE TŪRANGA

Reporting to the Chair and Board of Directors of NZC, The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides inspiring, inclusive and decisive leadership across cricket in New Zealand. The role is guided by three interconnected strategic pillars, which together underpin the long-term health, performance, and sustainability of cricket in New Zealand.

You will work collaboratively across the entire cricket system, aligning national strategy with regional delivery, player interests, and community outcomes. This requires balancing high-performance ambition with strong governance, commercial growth, reputational integrity, and NZC's social licence to operate.

A key aspect of the role is building and maintaining trusted relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, including Major Associations, the New Zealand Cricket Players' Association (NZCPA), Government, commercial partners, and international cricket community.

As a key influencer within the global sports community, you will play a critical role in strengthening New Zealand Cricket's international standing. This includes fostering strong relationships with ICC Member countries and engaging closely with international partners and broadcasters.

ABOUT YOU:

You are a values-led, relationship-based leader who prioritises purpose, integrity, and long-term organisational success. You build trust, lead inclusively, and make tough decisions with discipline and sound judgement.

Experience & Capability

  • You bring proven senior executive leadership experience in complex, stakeholder-rich environments, with the ability to lead through influence rather than authority.
  • You have strong commercial and financial acumen, high emotional intelligence, and political maturity.
  • You are comfortable operating under public and media scrutiny, with experience engaging effectively with media and an understanding of broadcasting and media ecosystems.
  • Experience in sport or adjacent sectors, exposure to high-performance environments, and leading system-based or networked organisations is highly desirable.
  • International experience, including Asia, is an advantage but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for cricket and the ability to work constructively with government, member associations, players' groups, and international partners is essential.

This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of New Zealand Cricket - driving high performance, commercial success and community impact while representing the game on the world stage.
