Middlesex Tennis is looking for a Safeguarding Trustee to join its Board.

The Role

Middlesex Tennis is the official county association and registered charity responsible for administering, promoting and developing tennis and padel across north, west and parts of east London.

The Board is made up of up to 12 voluntary Trustees, each with a specific role, who collectively take legal, financial and strategic responsibility for the charity. It is an exciting time to join, as the charity diversifies its fundraising, develops its approach to padel and works towards its 2028–2031 strategy.

The Safeguarding Trustee helps the LTA Safeguarding Team promote and embed a culture of safeguarding across all tennis and padel venues and activities in Middlesex, supporting venues with procedures to safeguard children and adults at risk, and working with Venue Welfare Officers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help the LTA implement its safeguarding strategy at county level
  • Provide a quarterly safeguarding report for Board meetings
  • Engage with venues and Welfare Officers and encourage the 5 LTA Minimum Safeguarding Standards
  • Help venues escalate concerns or allegations to the LTA Safeguarding Team
  • Make sure all Middlesex activities, such as county teams and County Championships, have appropriate safeguarding in place
  • Lead the Middlesex Tennis Safeguarding and Disciplinary Advisory Group
  • Host quarterly webinars for Venue Welfare Officers

About You

  • Experience working with tennis and padel venues (ideally in safeguarding), volunteers, children and/or adults at risk
  • Attended, or willing to attend, the 3-hour LTA safeguarding course
  • A clear enhanced DBS check
  • Able to record information accurately and keep information confidential
  • Good communication and administration skills

Key Details

  • Location: Middlesex (north, west and parts of east London)
  • Role: Voluntary trustee position, responsible to the Middlesex Tennis Chair
  • Time commitment: Ideally 2–5 hours per week, plus up to 8 in-person meetings a year
  • Term: Minimum of 2 years (9-year term limit)
  • Applications: CV and covering letter detailing your suitability
  • Closing date: 29 November 2026
