KEY PURPOSE OF ROLE
The Women’s Team Physiotherapist will play a pivotal role within the London Spirit Sports Science & Medicine (SS&M) team, delivering world-class evidence-based physiotherapy services to optimise player health, performance and availability throughout the Hundred ball competition. This is a unique opportunity to thrive in an aspirational, high-performance environment, working in a highly specialised multidisciplinary team (MDT) operating at the forefront of performance sport.
KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Collaborate with each player’s domestic and/or international SS&M teams to ensure outstanding communication across the pre-competition, competition, and post-competition phases to ensure best player management and facilitate seamless transitions into and out of The Hundred.
• Work collaboratively to optimise pre-competition physical preparation and planning, including regular player check-ins, availability status updates, and workload monitoring in the lead-up to players’ arrival at The Hundred.
• Conduct comprehensive pre-participatory screenings upon player arrival to determine availability status, identify modifiable risk factors affecting readiness, injury risk, and training interventions (including load management, exercise prescription, and physical preparation strategies).
• Ensure all contracted players have completed mandatory pre-participatory screenings including concussion baseline testing, medical and cardiac screenings in line with ECB clinical governance.
• Travel domestically with the team during The Hundred and preparation period, ensuring continuity of care, performance support, and recovery throughout travel.
• Collaborate with SS&M and performance staff on match and training days to optimise player readiness, deliver world-class pitch-side physiotherapy services (including pre-hospital immediate care in-line with ECB emergency guidelines and venue ECPs), and promote best practice individualised post-training/post-match recovery strategies.
• Deliver high-performance injury management through comprehensive musculoskeletal assessments, timely referrals – as indicated, evidence-based physiotherapy interventions, and collaborative return-to-play rehabilitation programmes based on individualised needs analysis.
• Work collaboratively to implement a comprehensive monitoring process for player wellness, workload, and availability status throughout the competition.
• Contribute to MDT meetings, including providing updates on injuries, rehabilitation, and player wellbeing.
• Deliver regular player updates on availability status and readiness to perform to the General Manager, Head Coach, Physiotherapy Lead, and performance staff.
• Oversee in-competition physiotherapy consumable stock management and maintenance of equipment while ensuring a professional, organised and fully equipped treatment environment at all times.
• Maintain full, clear, accurate and prompt medical and performance records on the ECB AMS system in full compliance with HCPC and ECB standards.
• Ensure medical insurance administration process fully complies with ECB health insurance policy requirements.
• Contribute to audits, injury surveillance, reflective practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy’s (CSP) Code of Members’ Professional Values and Behaviour.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS – SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
• BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or higher degree.
• Member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (MCSP).
• Valid ECB Sports Trauma in Cricket qualification (or equivalent).
• Minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience.
• Background in high-performance sport environments, with a strong understanding of the specific needs and demands of supporting female athletes.
• Excellence in clinical assessment, reasoning, and manual therapy, underpinned by evidence-based practice and sound clinical judgment.
• Proven commitment to continued professional development.
• Comprehensive knowledge of profiling, screening, diagnostics, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and recovery strategies relevant to cricket sports medicine.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster collaboration, and convey sensitive information with professionalism and respect.
• Highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable managing competing priorities across a dynamic team environment.
• Flexible approach to working hours and travel in-line with competition and training schedules.
• Uphold exemplary standards of professionalism, integrity, and personal conduct as a pivotal member of SS&M team, demonstrating consistent commitment to the highest clinical and ethical standards.
• Must hold the right to work in the United Kingdom.
The successful candidate will be required to complete a number of mandatory checks and certifications before starting in the role. These include a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, successful completion of the ECB safeguarding course, and attendance at a pre-competition anti-corruption education session.
