The Financial Director will be a senior member of the finance leadership team who will lead all accounting and tax functions, ensure financial accuracy and compliance and act as a strategic partner to the CFO and executive team. This person will be responsible for designing, building, and leading the accounting and tax operations to enable rapid growth and scalability. Key responsibilities will include leading and overseeing financial reporting, managing audits, developing key policies, ensuring tax compliance efficiency, and leading the implementation of finance systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Accounting Operations
- Lead and oversee the accounting operations
- Implement training, tools, and systems to drive efficiency and accuracy across the organisation
- Develop and optimise key financial procedures
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Own the preparation of consolidated financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS accounting standards
- Manage annual audits and act as a liaison to external auditors
Tax Strategy & Compliance
- Execute the organisation’s global tax strategy, ensuring compliance with multi-jurisdictional regulations and optimising group tax efficiency
- Oversee complex tax planning, transfer pricing, and cross-border structuring in partnership with external advisors and internal stakeholders
- Anticipate and respond to international regulatory changes, assessing their strategic and financial impact on the business
- Provide senior counsel on the tax implications of global expansion, new events, and commercial transactions
Audit & Assurance
- Provide global leadership and oversight of statutory audits across all international entities, ensuring alignment with IFRS, and local reporting standards
- Strengthen governance and internal control frameworks to safeguard financial integrity and compliance across regions
- Partner with external auditors and regional finance leaders to deliver transparent, high-quality reporting to the CFO and Audit Committee
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and operational excellence across global finance operations
Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with tax, audit, regulatory, licensing obligations relevant to media / sports / events
- Identify and manage financial and operational risks: regulatory, fiscal, contract, insurance, foreign exchange etc.
Team Building & Leadership
- Recruit, mentor, and develop the accounting and tax teams
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and service to both internal stakeholders and external partners
- Ensure cross-departmental collaboration and communication, including but not limited to a strong partnership with FP&A, to deliver monthly, quarterly and annual reports and commentary
Stakeholder Engagement
- Report to CFO; prepare Audit Committee reports, financial dashboards, investor updates
- Work with external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners
- Interact with Investor as needed to align reporting and best practices
REQUIRED SKILLS/WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU
Essential
- 15+ years’ senior leadership experience in finance and accounting, ideally within a global, high-growth or scale-up environment
- Proven experience implementing and scaling finance systems and ERPs
- Exposure to international operations, multi-currency, and FX management
- Understanding of global tax issues and transfer pricing
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, internal controls, and compliance.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate financial concepts for non-financial stakeholders
- High integrity and strong ethical standards
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification is a must
Desirable
- Big 4 experience is strong preferred
- Experience in sports, media, events, or entertainment sectors
- Familiarity with media rights, sponsorship, and broadcast contracts
