Reporting to VP, Rules and Competitions and SVP, Competition Management. The Tournament Director is responsible for exercising the Rules of Golf at the highest level while being an active team member of the LIV Golf League Event Delivery staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Serve as a member of the LIV Golf League Tournament Rules Committee.
- Referee for each LIV Golf League Tournament, working in a zone of the golf course to answer rules inquiries.
- Monitor pace of play and adhere strictly to the enforcement of LIV Golf League pace of play policies.
- Selection of tee placements and hole locations in conjunction with the setup plan for each day and week.
- Paint/Mark Penalty Areas, Out of Bounds, etc. in preparation for tournament week.
- Work collaboratively with Event Delivery Team, including Pro-Am support, as well as support LIV Golfs innovative scoring system.
- Continued Rules Education and Equipment Standards through USGA/PGA/R&A Rules Workshops.
- Work in collaboration with LIV Contracted Agronomist and Host Club Agronomy Team Tournament Week as well as throughout the months leading up to the tournament.
- Attend future sites to analyse course layout, yardage, and par.
- Provide Rules Support for the Asian Tour/LIV International Series as needed representing LIV Golf’s Rules Committee. Attend all LIV Golf League Tournaments (Approximately 24 Weeks)
REQUIRED SKILLS/WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU
- Minimum BS/BA degree or higher from an accredited institution with 3–5 years of relevant experience
- Golf officiation: Experience in golf tournament administration (evaluated on a case-by-case basis), including demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate the Rules of Golf, mark courses efficiently, and determine hole locations and tee placements
- Proficiency in the Rules of Golf and its Interpretations (including annual attendance at PGA/USGA Rules Workshops)
- In-depth knowledge of tournament administration: rule interpretation/officiation, course set-up, and on-site officiation
- Strong understanding of and passion for the professional golf industry, including regulations, business models, key trends, and scoring software
- Detail-oriented with the ability to communicate clearly and make fact-based decisions under pressure
- Fact-based, fair decision-making informed by the rules of the game
- Willingness and openness to travel on a regular basis (approximately 24 weeks per year)
