Leinster Rugby would like to invite applications from suitably experienced and qualified coaches for the position of ‘Athletic Development Coach’ for the Leinster Rugby Senior Women’s team.

The Leinster Rugby Senior Women’s team and the annual Interprovincial series are a highlight of the rugby calendar.

The Leinster Rugby Women’s team won the Interprovincial Championship as recently as 2024 and finished as runners-up last year. With 20 new caps last season and a number of players featuring internationally, this is an exciting opportunity to build on this success for the 2026 season.

The Leinster Women’s Athletic Development Coach will be responsible for leading the athletic development programme for the Senior Women’s squad. Working closely with the Head Coach and Player Development and Pathway teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in the physical preparation of the team for interprovincial competition.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and delivery of the athletic development programme leading up to and including the 2026 Interprovincial Series.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A recognised qualification (degree/diploma) in the area of strength and conditioning, sports science, physical education, or human movement.
  • Excellent knowledge and coaching skills in all areas of athletic development.
  • Previous working experience in rugby union or related sport.
  • Understanding of the Women’s game and the player pathway in Ireland.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with athletes and staff.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • A personal commitment to ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design and delivery of all athletic development, recovery and game preparation elements for the Leinster Rugby Senior Women’s team.
  • Capture, store and manage all athletic development testing and training data and ensure that it is reviewed and informs athletic development plans for all players.
  • Review and report on delivery of athletic development programme, providing feedback on player physical profiling and individual development plans.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performance team environment.
  • Work effectively with rugby, medical, analysis and administrative staff to enable optimal team preparation.
