Leicester Tigers are a professional rugby union club based in Leicester, England. They play in Premiership Rugby, England's top division of rugby. The club was founded in 1880 and since 1892 plays its home matches at Mattioli Woods Welford Road in the south of the city.
Role Overview
The U23 Lead Coach (Defence) is responsible for leading the development, performance, and progression of the U23 women’s programme at Leicester Tigers. This role combines player development, programme leadership, and senior squad integration, with a specific responsibility for leading the defensive systems and coaching within both the U23 and senior environments. You must have proof of your Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
This post is eligible for a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (i.e. it involves certain activities in relation to children and/or adults) and is defined as regulated activity under Part 1 of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. This post is designated as a regulated activity and requires enhanced criminal records check for a regulated activity (including a barred list check).
Key Responsibilities:
Player Development:
• Lead and manage the Leicester Tigers Women’s U23 programme.
• Plan and deliver high-quality training sessions, fixtures, open days, and recruitment initiatives.
• Create a structured, high-performance environment that supports long-term player development
• Plan and implement individual development plans (IDPs) for all U23 players.
• Monitor and track player progression, ensuring alignment with senior squad expectations.
• Deliver monthly reports outlining development and progression of U23 players within the senior women’s pathway.
Defence Leadership
• Lead the design and delivery of the defensive strategy and systems within the senior squad
• Deliver technical and tactical defence coaching sessions, focusing on contact, organisation, and decision-making.
Senior Squad Integration
• Assist in the delivery of senior squad training sessions.
• Deliver specialist skills sessions and contribute to a designated game discipline (specialising in defence).
• Attend senior squad matchdays as a coach.
