JOB TITLE: Kent Cricket Physiotherapist
DEPARTMENT: Performance Cricket
REPORTS TO: Head of Science and Medicine
LOCATION: Kent Cricket, The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, Old Dover Road, Canterbury, Kent, CT1 3NZ
CONTRACT: Six-month contract with possibility of full-time contract
Summary of Role:
The club physiotherapist will work within the Science and Medicine team, being the primary physiotherapist support for the pathway and academy during the winter, this takes place between our two first class grounds (Canterbury and Beckenham).
During the summer the role will adapt to supporting the cover of all cricket for the 2nd XI, this will require travel to home and away fixtures/training.
A significant part of the winter with the academy/pathway is supporting their physical, psychological and performance cricket, needs so that they can thrive during the competitive season. The relationships developed in the winter months are key for the challenging months of competitive cricket and management of injury’s and return to performance.
This is a challenging and extremely exciting role working within performance cricket, with a diverse athlete base, supporting the players and club’s aspirations of a high-performance culture to drive consistent success across all formats of the game.
The Club Physiotherapist will work in partnership with the Science and Medicine team and the wider coaching/support staff to shape a unified team ethos, setting high standards of performance and behaviour.
Background:
Kent Cricket is one of only 18 first-class county cricket clubs in England and Wales. From our headquarters at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury, and with a satellite ground at The County Ground, Beckenham, we are responsible for the growth and development of all cricket across Kent and our four London Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham - from community and schools’ cricket to the professional game.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provision of confident and competent clinical assessment, diagnoses and treatment to all professional, academy and pathway players
• Provide medical and physiotherapy cover to all training and match days (home and away)
• Communicate in a clear, open, effective manor with a variety of people, from playing staff, coaches, the wider support staff and where appropriate family members regarding injuries, management and recovery expectation
• Work in collaboration with the Strength and Conditioning coaches to deliver an integrated rehabilitation/strength and conditioning programme
• Arrange and coordinate consultant intervention, when necessary, in liaison with Head of Science and Medicine and Team Doctor
• Work in conjunction with the Head of Science and Medicine and the S&C Coaches to conduct sport specific musculoskeletal screenings for all professional, academy and pathway players and provide a consolidated, succinct programme to maximise performance/addressing deficiencies
• Maintain written records in accordance with the legal and professional requirements on the ECB Smartabase portal
• Provide physiotherapy support and provision to England centrally contracted and developmental players
• Undertake appropriate professional development to keep abreast of best practice
• To help grow an environment allowing individuals to thrive, to achieve their potential
• In collaboration with the Strength and Conditioning coaches and the Head of Sport Science support the delivery of ECB audits for Kent County Cricket Club

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Essential:
• An ability to demonstrate an understanding of sports injuries rehabilitation within your CPD
• Basic life support training within past two years (Enhanced training available to adhere to ECB requirements)
• Computer literacy, including MS office and databases
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to problem solve and adapt to readily changing situations
Desirable:
• Completed core rotations as Band 5 therapist within inpatient NHS setting or equivalent
• Experience working within sport, ideally professional level
• Advanced emergency management and on-field resuscitation qualifications
• A good understanding of the nature of cricket and/or work experience in cricket
• To be a health and wellbeing role model for professional, academy and pathway staff and the wider community
Qualifications:
• Bsc Physiotherapy or equivalent Msc
• Current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council

Additional Requirements:
• Enhanced DBS.
