Hertfordshire Sports Village (HSV) is looking for motivated people to join its Operations Team as Lifeguards and Duty Assistants, with a clear pathway to Senior Duty Assistant, Duty Team Leader and beyond.
The Role
Whether you are newly qualified, looking for your next step or bring substantial leisure experience, HSV would like to hear from you. For the right candidate, there is the opportunity to start directly at Senior or Duty Team Leader level.
You will prepare for and deliver bookings and events across the swimming pool, indoor multi-use areas and outdoor facilities, working in both the lifeguard and duty manager teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise poolside activity, carry out water tests and ensure safe operation
- Deliver excellent customer service and a welcoming environment
- Prepare and support events, from national competitions to community sessions
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and operational readiness
- Work closely with Duty Managers and lead shifts at Senior and Team Leader levels
About You
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role
- A current NPLQ, or the ability to achieve it within three to six months (internal training provided)
- GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English at grade D/3 or above
- A team player who can build effective working relationships
- Able to work flexible and unsociable hours
Key Details
- Location: De Havilland Campus, Hatfield, Hertfordshire
- Contract: Permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week); part-time opportunities also available
- Salary: £25,608 – £29,556 (HSV3.8 – HSV5.15), with an uplift on completing a six-month probation
- Benefits include 23 days’ annual leave plus public holidays, free gym membership, a “Healthy Hour” of exercise on shift, an annual performance bonus and full training
- An Enhanced DBS check is required; UKVI sponsorship is not available
