You will be responsible for the delivery of first-class physiotherapy services to our Harlequins senior players. In collaboration with the rest of the medical team, you will assist in the physiotherapy management of the players including daily proactive injury management, rehabilitation and injury prevention programmes.

The Details:

• Based at Surrey Sports Park, but happy to travel nationally and internationally as required.
• Will be required to work regular weekends and some evenings.
• Reports to Head of Medical Services with key relationships with the Medical and Athletic Performance Teams.
• Full time position.
• Salary: up to £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience).

The Responsibilities:

1. Clinical

• Assess, analyse and provide a clinical diagnosis for injured players to determine their need for physiotherapy intervention.
• Provide physiotherapy input to ensure players remain available to play to their potential
• Manage caseload of players effectively and efficiently.
• Produce daily and weekly reports of player injury status.
• Maintain patient documentation, records and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided and meet professional standards.
• Provide pre-game and pitch-side medical support services at training and games as required.

2. Managerial

• Participate in the departmental personal development and performance review system to promote personal and service developments.
• Be actively involved in clinical audit to support the club’s clinical governance strategy.
• Comply with health, safety and other relevant regulations and legislation.
• Help ensure RFU minimum medical standards criteria are met for annual compliance
evaluation.
• Alongside other Senior physios, deputize for the Head of Medical as needed.

3. Educational

• As a senior member of the Performance Support team, you will be expected to deliver, and participate in the delivery of role specific CPD.
• Demonstrate continuous development of clinical knowledge and skills to ensure delivery of evidence-based, industry leading care in conjunction with CSP and HCPC standards.
• Supervise the clinical training of undergraduate and postgraduate physiotherapy students and more junior members of staff as required.

4. Communications and Relationships

• To communicate and develop effective relationships with all members of the Medical and Athletic Performance Team as well as other members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.

The Experience, Qualifications and Skills needed:

Essential:

• BSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent for a minimum of 10 years.
• A minimum of 6 years working in professional sport ideally rugby
• Knowledge of, and experience in, testing, profiling, and screening athletic performance qualities of athletes.
• Proactive mindset with the appetite to learn and develop
• Demonstrable skills to work well within a multidisciplinary high-performance team environment.
• HCPC registered

Desirable:

• A post-graduate qualification in sports physiotherapy or musculoskeletal physiotherapy or sports science.
• An understanding of strength and conditioning/sports science.
• Full clean drivers’ licence.
• RFU Pre Hospital Immediate Care in Sport (PHICIS) Level 3
