Main Purpose of the Job

Do you care about others? Are you passionate about the power of sports to positively change lives? We seek dedicated individuals eager to enhance both the impact of our work and their own personal growth.

About the Foundation
Gloucester Rugby Charitable Foundation is the charitable arm of Gloucester Rugby, dedicated to leveraging the power of rugby to drive meaningful change in our community. Our vision is simple: imagine a community where the Gloucester Rugby Charitable Foundation serves as a catalyst for positive transformation, creating lasting social impact through a variety of rugby-related initiatives. These include youth development programmes, health and wellness campaigns, educational workshops, and inclusive sports opportunities. By promoting the core values of rugby—teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, and sportsmanship—we aim to inspire and empower individuals of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a stronger, healthier, and more cohesive community.

About the Job
We’re looking for an ambitious Youth Learning Coach to deliver education, employability and esports programmes that re-engage young people and create positive life pathways across Gloucester.

Our new esports programme launches in September 2026 and is designed to re-engage young people across Gloucester, helping them reconnect with education, build confidence and develop future pathways.

You will be highly skilled in building positive, professional relationships with a diverse range of participants, from children and young people to adults. As a confident communicator, you will be able to engage individuals from different backgrounds, with varying needs and levels of motivation.

In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting participants to develop their knowledge, skills and self-belief. By creating inclusive, supportive and engaging environments through sport and esports, you will help individuals re-engage with learning, develop essential life skills and explore meaningful next steps for their future.

What We’re Looking For
• Experience working with children and young people (and ideally adults) in education, youth work, or community settings

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly

• Experience supporting individuals with a range of needs, including those at risk of disengagement

• A passion for using sport, physical activity, or esports as a tool for engagement and development

• Confidence in managing behaviour and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment

• Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to take initiative in both delivery and project work

Impact of the Role
This role is vital in helping young people re-engage with education, improve their wellbeing, and develop the skills needed to succeed in life. Through your work, you will directly contribute to creating positive pathways and stronger communities across Gloucester.

Our Core Values
At the heart of our Foundation are the core values that we expect our staff to live and breathe. These are:
• Empathy: We care! We will never judge anybody that steps through our doors but instead will guide them, support them, and stand with them.
• Belonging: To be welcoming, kind, and compassionate, creating a safe environment where everybody, regardless of their lived experience, can belong.
• Passion: This is OUR Holm… We will be passionate about everything we do—the badge that we wear, the City and County that we represent, and the communities that we support.
• Pride: We are proud of our communities, our city, our county, and our club, and we will represent them all with honor.

Key Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be an important part of the Foundation, working closely with the Head of Charitable Delivery to deliver the Foundations ‘Changing Lives through Rugby’ strategy and to prioritise project delivery and program innovation.

Their key job accountabilities will be:
• Build strong, trusted relationships with young people to support their personal development and engagement
• Deliver and support sessions across education, employability, and enrichment programmes, including esports provision
• Provide mentoring and pastoral support to participants, promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing
• Help manage behaviour effectively, offering safe and constructive alternatives to anti-social behaviour
• Work closely with teachers, tutors, and partner organisations to support participants’ progress and outcomes
• Support individuals to develop key life skills, including confidence, communication, teamwork, and resilience
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of community-based projects that raise awareness of the Foundation’s work
• Act as a positive role model, promoting the values of respect, inclusion, and personal responsibility

This role may include community-based delivery, match day events, festivals, and other programs. It will also require working some evenings and weekends as needed.
This job description is intended as a guide to the main responsibilities and is not meant to restrict any individual in performing other duties as required by the Company.
