Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Glamorgan County Cricket for a highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Science and Medicine Department. The role will primarily involve providing physiotherapy services to our Women’s Academy and Second XI teams. However, duties will extend into support for pathway players and assist the Women’s Lead Physiotherapist with the first XI squad, dependent on primary role commitments. There will also be opportunities with the Men’s programme when departmental operational demands require it. Therefore, this position will provide excellent experience and exposure into managing athletes of varying demographics and environments. A long-term vision is to develop interchangeability between physiotherapy practitioners within the department, improving the skill sets of individuals, in addition to improving the services provided to our athletes’.
We are seeking a highly motivated and driven physiotherapist who is eager to develop their skillset within an elite sporting environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with both established and emerging athletes, delivering high-quality care while supporting our junior players as they progress towards our Tier 1 women’s team. We welcome applications from entry-level physiotherapists as well as those with more experience, as we value enthusiasm, commitment, and a genuine passion for athlete care above all. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering performance and long-term athlete health.
The post holder will play an active role in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all players. This includes adhering to Glamorgan’s safeguarding policies and promoting safe working practices.
Main Duties
- Lead on the Women’s Academy and Second XI Physiotherapy provision, with support from the Women’s Lead Physiotherapist and Head of Science and Medicine.
- Assist with pitch-side first aid and physiotherapy provision during match-days and practice sessions of Women’s 1st XI, Second XI and Academy.
- Assist the Women’s Lead Physiotherapist in the management and provision of full-time professional Women’s Players
- Effective assessment, treatment and delivery of physiotherapy specific interventions.
- Maintain accurate, detailed and up to date medical notes on the ECB note software, SmartaBase.
- Design and implement evidence-based screening and monitoring for academy squad players.
- Deliver injury prevention and management strategies for younger athletes
- Participate in annual ECB CPD seminars and contribute to Glamorgan Sports Science and Medicine in-house CPD programme.
- Strive to always achieve best practice, by working together to continually improve the department and service provision.
- Excellent communication with the Women’s Lead Physiotherapist regarding assessment outcomes and treatment objectives for athletes.
- Create, manage and supervise rehabilitation programmes for athletes who have suffered injury
- Co-ordinate return to play and performance programmes with the Women’s Lead Physiotherapist
- Create and maintain good, strong working relationships with key stakeholders at the club.
- Assist the Head of Science and Medicine with the annual ECB science and medicine audit.
- Assist with pitch-side cover or physiotherapy cover to the Men’s/Boys programme when department operational demand requires it.
- Working in line with safeguarding policies, and best practice in supervision, boundaries, and professional conduct.
- Maintaining accurate and timely records of any safeguarding concerns and reporting them promptly to the Club Safeguarding Lead.
- Recognising additional risks in the elite environment, supporting the creation of a culture where players and colleagues feel safe to raise concerns, and modelling behaviours consistent with a position of trust.
- To carry out any other duties that may be required by management and that are within the successful candidate's capabilities.

Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
- BSc or MSc (pre-reg) in Physiotherapy with current HCPC registration
CSP membership
- Full UK driving license
- Own transport
- Right to Work in the UK
- Current Advanced Pitch-Side Trauma Management Qualification (or ability to complete prior to starting employment)
Desirable
- Previous Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Experience
- Experience of using electronic notes systems
- Knowledge or experience working within a professional sport environment
