ROLE PURPOSE

The Head of Men’s High Performance (Pathways) is responsible for the design, leadership, and execution of Fiji Rugby’s Men’s High Performance Pathway System, ensuring a seamless pipeline from schools, clubs, provincial rugby → national age-grade teams → elite programs (7s, Drua, Flying Fijians).

The role will identify, develop, and transition world-class Fijian players and coaches through a structured, measurable, and performance-driven pathway aligned to Fiji Rugby’s long-term ambition:

• Flying Fijians: Consistent Top 4 World Ranking

• Fiji 7s Men: Olympic Gold & World Series Dominance

• Fiji U20: Consistent Top 4 at Junior World Championship

• Fiji U18: Competitive with Tier 1 Nations (NZ, AUS, Europe)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 High Performance Pathway Leadership

· Lead and implement the Men’s High Performance Pathway Strategy (U16–Elite) aligned with the 2026–2036 HP Plan.

· Establish a clear national pathway framework:

o Schools → Provincial → U16 → U18 → U20 → 7s/Drua → Flying Fijians

· Ensure alignment across all national programs (Men’s 7s, U20, Drua, Flying Fijians).

2.2 Talent Identification (TID) & Recruitment

· Lead local and diaspora TID system (Fiji, NZ, Australia, UK, Europe, USA)

· Plan and execute annual national TID camps and scouting frameworks in collaboration with HP Staff

· Work with:

o Schools Rugby

o Provincial Unions

o Overseas Clubs

· Work with Fiji Rugby Performance Analysis/Data Team on management of a live national player database system (U16–Elite)

2.3 Elite Player Pathway & Academy Management

· Oversee Elite Player Pathway Academy (Men):

o 30 Apprentice Players

o 30 Elite Academy Players

· Ensure:

o Individual Development Plans (IDPs)

o Strength & Conditioning benchmarks (Bronco, GPS, VALD)

o Skill development aligned to international standards

· Track and transition players into:

o Fiji U20

o Fiji 7s

o Fijian Drua

o Flying Fijians

2.4 National Age-Grade Programs Oversight

· Provide strategic and operational oversight of:

o Fiji U20 Program

o Fiji U18 Program

· Ensure:

o Alignment of game model with Flying Fijians

o Performance benchmarking vs Tier 1 nations

o Integration with international competitions (Oceania, SANZAR U20, JWC)

2.5 Coaching & Staff Development

· Identify and develop in consultation with High Performance Heads of Departments and Rugby Development Unit:

o Coaches

o S&C Coaches

o Medical Staff

o Performance Staff

o Match Officials

o Team Managers

· Align and Consultation with Rugby Development Unit:

o Identification of suitable personnel for attendance to professional development and pathway development

o Embed HP standards into grassroots systems

o Coordinating HP Coaches, Medical, Performance, Match Official Staff to co-deliver professional development workshops/courses/training for Fiji Rugby Pathway development.

· Support growth opportunities for identified talented coaches, MO, S&C Coaches, Medical Staff, Team Managers in the Fiji Rugby pathways for further training, exposure, inclusion into the national programs (local → national → international).

2.6 High Performance Centres & Systems Integration

· Coordinate with all High Performance Training Centres (HPU) and Staff:

o Programming standards

o Athlete monitoring systems (TMA, GPS, VALD, AIA, Hudl, Teambuilder)

o Medical & recovery protocols

· Ensure standardization across all centres nationally.

2.7 Integration with Fijian Drua & National Teams

· Work closely with:

o Fijian Drua HP Staff

o Flying Fijians Coaching Team

o Fiji 7s Programs

· Ensure:

o Player readiness for professional rugby

o Seamless transition into elite environments

o Alignment of training loads and performance standards

2.8 Performance Monitoring & Reporting

· Establish clear KPI dashboards across all programs:

o Player progression rates

o Physical benchmarks

o Competition outcomes

· Deliver monthly and quarterly reports to GM HP and Board.
