The Role:
Between 2023 and 2027, the RFU will deliver a transformational Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2025 Impact programme in partnership with the government and Sport England. The programme includes a multi-million-pound investment to further accelerate the accessibility of the women and girls’ game, in line with the RFU’s Every Rose Action Plan. We are now recruiting for an additional role to join the workforce, dedicated to developing and driving new playing & volunteering opportunities and community engagement.
The purpose of this role is to increase opportunities to play rugby by developing partnerships and implementing projects that drive participation locally and contribute to achieving the strategic objective of 100,000 women and girls playing rugby by 2027. The role will be focused on a specific geographical location, aligned to the key venues within the RWC Impact programme.
Engaging with a range of partners including School and Colleges, Youth Organisations, Active Partnerships, the local rugby network and RFU colleagues, this role is instrumental in coordination and delivery of core projects to engage with new audiences, with a focus on the recruitment of women and girls into rugby clubs.
Working pro-actively with data and insights, individuals will collaborate with key stakeholders to develop local solutions and targeted approaches, activating national youth and adult participation campaigns, activities and events, including those supported by our commercial partners.
In this role you will work with local partners and stakeholders across the sporting and physical activity network, identifying opportunities for new engagement and activity. This outreach work will support colleagues who will work directly with the clubs and CBs.
Some key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and lead local implementation of targeted participation campaigns.
- Create and deliver project plans to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Develop relationships and liaise with local, regional, and national RFU staff and external stakeholders to align and increase access to programmes and initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate impact, share learning and contribute to local data and insight.
- Provide update reports for a range of stakeholders.
- Actively collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and delivery of the current strategic, business and operational plans.
- Act as an ambassador for, and promote the best interests of the RFU, including the promotion of our culture and core values – This Rose Means Everyone: Put The Team First, Shape The Future, Respect Each Other.
- Undertake other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of the organisation.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Essential:
- Understanding of the sporting landscape especially in relation to women and girls’ sport.
- Understanding of barriers to participation, especially for women and girls.
- Experience in project management, involving internal and external stakeholders.
- Committed to driving forward inclusion in your role and day-to-day behaviours.
- Experience of working with and supporting cross function teams/roles to ensure solutions are consistent and integrated.
- Experience of increasing participation in sport.
- Ability to demonstrate experience in building and sustaining relationships and working in teams.
- Ability to analyse problems and develop solutions.
- Time management and prioritisation skills.
- Highly motivated and able to work under own direction to achieve stated objectives within the necessary timescales.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including report writing and delivering effective presentations.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office, including MS Teams.

- Knowledge of education sector.
