Role Overview:
The Tournament Organiser is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of a PGL Netball Weekend, ensuring a high-quality, safe, and enjoyable competitive experience for all participants, officials, and spectators. The role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to oversee tournament operations from planning through to completion.
Locations & Dates:
- Liddington, Wiltshire (6th - 8th March & 13th - 15th March)
- Windmill Hill, East Sussex (24th - 26th April)
Working Hours:
Friday 5pm - 8pm (no break), Saturday 8am - 5pm, (one-hour unpaid break) & Sunday 8am - 4pm (one-hour unpaid break)
Prior to the tournament you will need to source umpires
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the planning and scheduling of the PGL Netball Weekend tournament structure, fixtures, and formats.
- Liaise with venues to ensure courts, equipment, and facilities are prepared and compliant with competition standards.
- Assist with the production and distribution of event documentation including schedules, rules, and participant information packs.
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the tournament across all courts.
- Manage fixture schedules and ensure matches run on time.
- Act as the main point of contact for teams, officials, volunteers, and venue staff during the event.
- Resolve scheduling conflicts, disputes, and operational challenges in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure competition rules and regulations are applied consistently.
- Source and coordinate umpires for each tournament.
- Deliver event briefings and ensure all schools and officials understand their responsibilities.
- Provide a welcoming and professional environment for teams and spectators.
- Support team enquiries and provide clear event communication.
- Assist with presentations and event announcements.
- Meet and welcome guest NSL athlete for Sunday presentations.
- Ensure the tournament operates in line with health and safety policies.
- Support safeguarding procedures and respond appropriately to welfare concerns.
- Manage incidents or emergencies in line with event protocols.
Person Specification:
- Experience organising or delivering sporting events or competitions.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Confident coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge of netball competition rules and formats.
- Experience working with youth sport or participation events.
- Experience coordinating volunteers or officials.
