Volunteer Welfare Officer

We are looking to recruit volunteers to join our team of volunteer welfare officers. The purpose of this opportunity is to support the national welfare manager in all matters relating to player welfare and safety under the care of England Golf.

The role will support our performance team to look after our elite amateur players that represent England in competitions and events at home and internationally, providing sufficient welfare support to players and families and ensure that professional conduct and supervisory roles are maintained whilst teams/individuals are at training and events. The role will require extensive travel with individuals/teams with the knowledge and ability to oversee individual’s needs and respond to safeguarding concerns.

We are looking for people who have:

Demonstrable knowledge and operational experience of safeguarding policies, procedures and practice for children, young people and vulnerable adults within a sporting environment, including understanding of safe working practices, risk assessment, information sharing and data protection principles.

An understanding of sport in general and knowledge of elite performance

Ability to maintain a high standard of integrity and trust, whilst dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted, supportive relationships with players, parents/guardians, volunteers and staff.

High level of professionalism, integrity and reliability with a clear understanding of confidentiality and appropriate boundaries.
This role has been identified as involving access to adults at risk and/or children and, in line with England Golf policy, persons undertaking this role will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service Disclosure Check and must also have attended a Safeguarding and Protecting Children course (SPC) or be willing to undertake one and a Time To Listen (TTL) Course.
