An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual to join the Board of England Boxing as a Boxing Director with the specific responsibility for the area of our Boxing Officials and Rules. The term of appointment is for four years initially, with potential for one further four-year term.

Key Responsibilities:


• Attend six Board meetings, and as many Committee or Working Group meetings as required per year, and contribute appropriately to ensure that the organisation’s objectives, and the overall vision - Inspiring and transforming lives through Boxing - are achieved within the budget set by the Board. Board meetings are usually held in London or online. If the meeting is in-person, a video conference option is generally available.
• Provide strategic insight and support to the Chief Executive and the Senior Management Team.
• To act as Board-appointed Chair of the Technical Rules and Officials Sub-committee.
• Support appropriate activities, competitions, and events to raise the profile of England Boxing.
• Prepare appropriately for each Board meeting and to keep up to date with current developments within amateur boxing and more generally in the broader sporting environment.
• Participate in an agreed annual appraisal and review process for Board members.

Person Specification:


• To have knowledge/experience in the working area of the relevant sub-committee and/or Working Group, which for this vacancy is in the area of officials and the technical rules. In preparation for the interview, candidates will be issued a summary of points related to the specific role and the England Boxing Strategy.
• A clear understanding of the structure of sport in England and demonstrable knowledge of sport and the sport of boxing in particular.
• Strong experience in strategic decision-making and planning at a senior level in the private or public sector.
• A strong grasp of the principles of fairness and good governance.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, and an ability to work across organisational boundaries to promote high standards.
• A thorough grasp of diversity and inclusion issues, especially the barriers for low participation groups.
