The British Triathlon Federation is the national governing body for triathlon, duathlon and associated multisport in Great Britain. It administers triathlon in England, Scotland, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
Job DescriptionThe team at British Triathlon are looking to recruit an Assistant Triathlon Coach to work across the Performance and Development squads in the World Class Programme (WCP) training centre in Leeds.
The primary purpose of the role is to deliver high-quality coaching across swim/bike/run activities to some of Great Britain’s highest quality Triathletes. The role will straddle both the Performance squad – where some of the best Triathletes in the world train – and the Development squad, where the aim is to develop the next generation of triathletes capable of transitioning to the Performance squad. As such, the role will be required to ‘reach down’ into the pathway in England, smoothing the transition of athletes from British Youth and Junior programmes into the Leeds Centre, and to attend camps and competitions (with the Centre and the wider performance programme) to drive athlete development.
The British Triathlon WCP Centre (Leeds) Assistant Coach will report into the Head Coach for the Centre and will work closely with them to deliver all technical swim/bike/run coaching across all squads in the Leeds Centre. In doing so, building positive and impactful relationships with Centre athletes will be key. The successful candidate will also be required to foster effective relationships with other Centre stakeholders, including operational and coaching staff at the University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University and Leeds City Council. Where this role supports the coaching of WCP athletes, they will be required to work collaboratively with UKSI science and medicine staff based in/visiting Leeds. Finally, this role will need to build effective relationships with pathway staff (regional and national) to enable effective transition of young athletes into the Centre.
British Triathlon offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
• 25 days annual leave, increasing with length of service, enhanced with a flexible holiday buying scheme
• Enhanced Maternity, Paternity & Adoption pay
• A commitment to your development, with regular time ringfenced for personal and collaborative learning and development
• 2 days paid volunteer leave
• Free and accessible parking outside the Loughborough head office and secure covered bike storage
• Pension scheme, life assurance scheme, and private medical insurance to care for you and your loved ones
• Support for a healthy lifestyle, including discounted gym membership at Loughborough University campus and a cycle to work scheme
British Triathlon is passionate about developing an environment that makes Britain the world’s leading triathlon nation, enabling success and increasing participation. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and energetic coach who can bring skills and ambition to an inclusive, people-centred workplace, who is determined to create positive impact, and who values doing what’s right above doing what is expected.
