The British Elite Athletes Association (BEAA) is looking for a Non-Executive Director to join its Board.
The Role
The BEAA provides independent and confidential advice, support and advocacy to Britain’s elite athletes. Non-Executive Directors oversee the management and administration of the organisation, make sure it has a clear strategy, and support and challenge the executive team.
The Board is particularly interested in candidates who can bring trusted insight, experience or influence to advocate within the Olympic and Paralympic high-performance system – as a current or former World Class Programme athlete, a respected professional in the UK high-performance system, or through a track record in public affairs in sport. The BEAA is not currently seeking applicants from financial, legal, medical or communications backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Help make sure the BEAA achieves its core purpose
- Oversee the overall management and administration of the organisation
- Make sure the BEAA has a clear strategy aligned with its vision
- Support and challenge the executive team
- Act collectively with the Board
About You
- Strong credibility to advocate within the high-performance system
- A commitment to athlete welfare and wellbeing
- Effective communication skills
- A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
- Commitment to the seven Nolan principles of public life
- Desirable: experience as a former Performance Director for an Olympic or Paralympic sport; para-athlete or disability sport experience is a particular asset
