Do you want to support young people and make a real difference in your community?

Bristol Bears Foundation is the official charity of Bristol Bears. We believe rugby is more than just a game - it’s a powerful tool for lasting change. We use it to tackle inequality and inspire healthier, stronger, and more connected communities across Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.

Your next role

As our Post 16 Careers Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering impactful employability programmes for young people aged 16 - 21 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).

You’ll lead delivery of our ‘Boost Your Future’ programme and support the delivery of our ‘United Bristol’ work, helping young people develop the confidence, skills, and qualifications they need to take their next steps into employment, education, or training.

This is a hands-on, rewarding role where you’ll build meaningful relationships, create opportunities, and see first-hand the difference you make.

What you’ll be doing

Working closely with the Employability & Skills Projects Manager, you will:

- Deliver engaging 1:1 sessions, group workshops, and employability programmes in community settings
- Plan and deliver high-quality Maths and English Functional Skills sessions
- Design and adapt schemes of work to meet the needs of young people
- Build strong, trusting relationships to support progression into positive outcomes
- Work alongside local employers to create workshops, guest sessions, and work experience opportunities
- Collaborate with partners, including the council and community organisations
- Track progress, maintain accurate records, and report on programme impact
- Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and risk management standards are upheld at all times

What you’ll bring

We welcome people from all backgrounds and experiences. If you’re enthusiastic about the role and meet most of the criteria, we’d love to hear from you.

Essential:

- Experience working with young people or targeted groups in areas of deprivation
- Ability to deliver Maths and English functional skills
- Understanding of barriers facing young people (e.g. SEND, SEMH, disadvantage)
- Knowledge of education, employment and training pathways in Bristol
- Experience planning or delivering structured sessions or programmes
- A youth work qualification (or willingness to work towards)
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and engage young people
- Flexibility to work evenings/weekends where required
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable:

- England Rugby Coaching Award (or willingness to work towards)
