Bedford School is looking for a Director of Netball to establish and lead its first-ever netball programme as the School moves to co-education in September 2027.
The Role
You will shape the vision, culture and identity of netball at Bedford from day one, combining outstanding coaching, participation and a clear pathway to performance excellence from Prep through to Upper School.
Starting in the Summer Term 2027, you will work with the Director of Sport and wider sports team to prepare coaching, facilities, fixtures, player development and recruitment ahead of the first girls arriving. This is a full-time teaching appointment, including curriculum PE and AQA GCSE PE, and possibly Pearson BTEC Sport and Exercise Science.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead the School’s new netball programme
- Develop a talent pipeline from Prep to Upper School and compete at the highest level of school netball
- Work with Admissions to attract talented netballers
- Build relationships with feeder schools, local clubs and England Netball
- Teach curriculum PE and AQA GCSE PE
- Carry out the tutor and pastoral duties of a teaching contract

- An ambitious, forward-thinking netball coach and educator
- Able to teach PE, including AQA GCSE PE
- Able to build a programme from scratch and inspire young players
- Committed to safeguarding and the welfare of young people
