The Lead Academy Performance Analyst plays a central role in supporting Barnsley FC’s Academy by delivering high‑quality performance insights that enhance player development across all age groups. Working closely with coaches, players, and other Academy staff, the role blends video analysis, data interpretation, and applied football knowledge to influence coaching strategies, match preparation, and long‑term development plans.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Analysis

Lead all analysis for the U21s squad, including match coding, live feedback, and post‑match reporting.

Deliver opposition analysis using video and statistics.

Provide individual player analysis aligned to KPIs and development plans.

Capture and analyse training sessions to support coaching objectives.

Interpret GPS and performance data to identify trends and inform decision‑making.

Academy Wide Support

Mentor and support interns and analysts working with U18s and younger age groups.

Coordinate analysis standards across the Foundation and Youth Development Phases.

Maintain master video and data databases, ensuring compliance and accurate data management within the PMA system.

Collaboration & Development

Work closely with Academy staff to improve data collection, analysis, and presentation processes.

Contribute to staff and player education through presentations and workshops.

Actively participate in internal and external CPD opportunities.

Match Day Duties

Provide live match coding and immediate feedback, home and away.

Deliver post‑match video and data presentations during debriefs.

About The Candidate

Essential

Degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Coaching, or related field

Experience with analysis software and video coding

Enhanced DBS

Desirable

Master’s degree or willingness to work towards one

Other

Full UK driving licence
