This is an exciting opportunity for you to be part of our wider Operations & Facilities Team.

About the role

We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to help deliver and grow our Pro Sport Programme. This programme supports students to achieve up to three NZQA Level 3 certifications in Sport, Exercise & Leisure Operations; Coaching; and Officiating, while gaining real-world experience across rugby and community sport.

This is a part time role, 30 hours per week and would suit someone who is flexible as it will include weekend work during our season.

As the Pro Sport Coordinator, you will be an ambassador for the programme across the wider Auckland community. You’ll play a key role in promoting the programme to schools and students, supporting recruitment and enrolments, and assisting in the delivery of classroom learning and practical sporting experiences.

This is a hands-on, people-focused role that includes:

  • Building strong relationships with secondary schools and NGO partners
  • Leading student recruitment initiatives, including career expos and linking in with rugby development camps
  • Supporting match day activities and community rugby events with the Pro Sport students
  • Coordinating student logistics including transport, refereeing, coaching sessions and fitness activities
  • Providing pastoral care support and working closely with students and families
  • Assisting with operational systems, processes and health & safety compliance
  • Contributing to organisational initiatives and living our values: Strive to advance, Put in the hard work, Work as a team, Lead by example

Skills and experience

  • 1–2 years’ experience working with young adults, ideally in an education, sport or community setting
  • A secondary or tertiary qualification (teacher aide or education-related experience highly regarded)
  • Strong pastoral care skills and a genuine commitment to student wellbeing
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with students, families, schools and community stakeholders
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to use initiative, multitask and perform effectively under pressure
  • Strong IT literacy, including advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and experience using databases
  • A strong command of written and spoken English (additional languages are an advantage)
  • Valid and current drivers licence
