Join Warwickshire County Cricket Club as the Bears Women’s Physiotherapist for a 12-month, full-time maternity cover within our Elite Cricket department. Based at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, with regular travel to various game locations, providing high-quality physiotherapy and healthcare support to our players.

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality physiotherapy and healthcare support to players, working collaboratively with the Lead Physiotherapist, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and the wider medical and multidisciplinary teams. The role is integral to ensuring the health, fitness, and availability of players, supporting their rehabilitation and development goals, and participating in clinical, performance, and research projects. The Physiotherapist will contribute to maintaining high standards of medical governance and actively participate in the Women’s Science and Medicine Review process, ultimately enhancing player performance and well-being.

Role Profile and Key Responsibilities

  • Physiotherapy Support: Provide high-quality physiotherapy and healthcare support to players under the direction of the Lead Physiotherapist, ensuring their health, fitness, and availability. This role involves working across multiple sites, primarily based at Edgbaston, with frequent travel to satellite centers to ensure equitable support throughout the region.
  • Collaborative Work: Work collaboratively with the medical team, multidisciplinary team (MDT), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), and Lead Physiotherapist to maintain high standards of medical governance and player support.
  • Player Development: Support player availability and development goals through comprehensive rehabilitation programs and individualised care plans.
  • Research and Projects: Lead and champion local and ECB-led clinical, performance, and research projects, contributing to the advancement of sports medicine and player performance.
  • International Pathway Support: Collaborate with ECB staff to co-manage the health and fitness of international pathway players, ensuring their seamless integration and progression.
  • Science and Medicine Review: Actively participate in the Women’s Science and Medicine Review process, contributing insights and expertise to enhance overall player health and performance strategies.


Person Specification

Essential

  • Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and evidence of appropriate indemnity insurance (e.g., CSP)
  • Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy
  • Demonstratable experience working independently as a qualified physiotherapist specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, with experience working in performance sport
  • Current advanced trauma management and emergency care accreditation (or ability to obtain this certification within a specified timeframe if successful)
  • High standards of personal and professional integrity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain a flexible approach to work at all times, including the requirement to undertake other duties and responsibilities as required
  • Valid Full Driving License

Desirable

  • Experience of working in elite women’s sport
  • Experience working with younger athletes

Working Hours

• 35 hours per week.

Due to the nature of the role, the position requires flexibility, working evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays. You will be expected to travel to multiple sites across the West Midlands, ensuring comprehensive coverage and support. Leave entitlement must align with the service schedule, guaranteeing continuous support for the team and players.
