Based at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, the Assistant Groundskeeper is responsible for supporting the Head of Grounds in the efficient day-to-day maintenance of the playing and training pitches. The post-holder must have a pro-active approach and be an enthusiastic team player.

You must be willing to show initiative, take ownership and responsibility for your actions, and consistently deliver to high standards.

Due to the nature of the business, and the role, this is not a standard Monday-Friday 9-5 job, and so requires flexibility towards working hours, including the requirement to work at all home fixtures as well as some evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. You should also be able to work across multiple sites within the Warrington area.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the playing pitch at The Halliwell Jones Stadium meets the exceptional standard of quality required by Warrington Wolves
  • Monitor the pitch on a daily basis, record all appropriate information and act promptly to resolve issues
  • Assist in the renovation of the pitch
  • Mark out the pitch
  • Use both pedestrian and ride-on mowers
  • Keep all equipment and materials in good condition
  • Clean equipment and wash down working areas
  • Take reasonable care concerning own health and safety and that of persons who may be affected by the performance of these duties

Skills / Experience Required Skills

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
  • Experience within a similar role
  • Previous experience of using a wide range of turf care equipment
  • Full driving licence
  • Spraying certificates PA1 and PA6 desirable but not essential
