Essential Job Functions:

  • Is primarily responsible for supporting and assisting the Head Coach in coaching the Women’s Sevens team and providing specialist technical expertise.
  • In addition to these tasks the Assistant Coach will also play a supporting role in talent identification and development, analysis and pathway education.
  • Expert Input in terms of team selection
  • Expert input in terms of 1 on 1 feedback to players in terms of preparation, clarity of role and also player feedback post game and training
  • Value input in terms of Opposition analysis and scouting of Opposition, offering the players the best knowledge of opposition and specific opposition
  • Preparation and planning of training for the specific areas of responsibility
  • Review the training sessions and objectives of training, followed by feedback to players in order to stimulate improvements within their game
  • Review of areas of the game that pertain to the areas of responsibility and provide team, unit and individual player review and feedback.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Technical Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • A proven and successful coaching background
  • A strong/excellent strategic and technical understanding of the game
  • Analytical skills – in relation to assessment of skill and performance including proven use of technology Leadership/People/Management Skills
  • Proven ability to motivate all players
  • Empathy and understanding of an individual’s needs regardless of background and ethnicity
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in assessing and managing performance – particularly giving feedback to players
  • Strong time management and organization skills Team building and Teamwork
  • Demonstrated and proven success in developing a vibrant and supportive winning team culture
  • Has effective working relationships with colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a senior management team member
  • Readily and willingly shares information and supports the work of others.
  • Works hard to resolve conflict

Recommended Education & Experience

  • International 7s experience
  • Minimum Level 300 Coach Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years in a HP coaching environment Performance Analysis / Sports Code Background
