Ulster Rugby is currently inviting applications for the post of Athletic Performance Scientist. To support the Athletic Performance Team, players and the wider multi-disciplinary team in the use of training data to identify areas of progress and opportunity by which we may improve athletic and subsequent rugby performance.

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Sports Science or a related discipline. Additonnaly, they should have a minium of 3 years expereince in a performance sport environment. They should have a passion for developing individuals through the process of atheltic performance. They must be flexible as frequent early mornings, evening and weekend work during the course of the season will be required, including travel with the Ulster Senior squad.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Athletic Performance program through the administration, collection, and analysis of data collected to inform the program and drive player and coach performance
  • Collaborate with the senior team Athletic Performance coaches to provide actionable insights into the preparation of professional rugby players
  • Provide coaching support for all types of training session
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the AP program to ensure delivery of all coaching sessions is to the highest level
  • Support the AP ecosystem with proactive, and insightful, interrogation and visualisation of data.
  • Operate autonomously within a dynamic and demanding environment
  • Ensure data is formatted and uploaded in line with IRFU National Standards and data is communicated between Ulster Rugby and IRFU.

The duties and responsibilities outlined above are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake additional duties to meet the needs of the organisation.
