Programmes will need to be highly individualised and there will be a need to provide remote support when athletes are travelling. This role will require manual handling of athletes so you should be physically capable of lifting someone who is 90kg. Beach Sprints is a new Olympic sport and will require different programmes to meet the needs of the event. You will improve the rowing performance through the development, implementation, and evaluation of the S&C programmes that reflect scientific principles as they relate to adaptation, periodisation, peaking, tapering, and injury rehabilitation. This will be done for the entire GBRT S&C programme with the enhancement of skill level for all practitioners. The GBRT has a phenomenal track record of performance at the highest levels of Olympic sport and is seeking an exceptional Strength and Conditioning Coach to form part of the core daily delivery team towards the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

British Rowing functions out of a bespoke NTC in Caversham (near Reading) where athletes can train both on the water and on land whilst receiving World Class Coaching and Support Services. Some of the gym sessions will also be conducted at the UKSI High-Performance Centre at the Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre (near Marlow). Due to the nature of the role, delivery will be in person to meet the needs of the sport.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

A typical week would be Monday to Saturday with half days on Wednesday and Saturday. You will manage the other three S&C practitioners, ensure that the profiling is aligned and meets the needs of the sport, and use world leading practices. We would expect that some of your time is spent understanding the technical model of the sport which would require you to observe on-water training sessions.

GBRT VISION:

A world leading Olympic and Paralympic nation which inspires and creates opportunities for anyone capable of delivering or supporting success to realise their dreams regardless of background.

GBRT MISSION:

To deliver a programme which consistently produces gold medal success and creates the environment where athletes and staff thrive.British Rowing takes pride in the tradition of success that it has created through the development and performances of athletes on the world stage.
