In this role, you’ll be supporting the Performance Insight team with the development and maintenance of effective high performance analysis, results interpretations and reporting. In doing this, you’ll be a core cog in ensuring that the Performance Department at UK Sport can reliably monitor Sports’ progress and achievements, enabling them, and UK Sport, to make better informed performance decisions, and increase our medal winning chances at major sporting events, at both Olympic and Paralympic Games. You will also help develop the understanding of Performance Planning across elite Olympic and Paralympic sports.

About you

As you’ll see from the more detailed Job Description, we are looking for an exceptional candidate with a core knowledge of data analysis, visualisation, elite sport performance planning and associated software packages. We’ll need to be able to visualise your data using Power BI/Tableau, and you’ll need to be confident in both the manipulation and cleansing of data sets.

Alongside that, you will have proven ability to convey your analysis to both technical and non-technical experts in the business, and to be able to do that in both written and verbal forms. Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of Performance Insight (PI) outputs and models through the creation and automation of reports and dashboards
  • Leadership of key analysis project(s), specifically in Athlete Performance Planning
  • Liaise with BI developer to ensure that data for outputs is robust and clear
  • Support the delivery of statistical research projects including the parameterisation of problems, methods of analysis, description and interpretation of results.
  • Ensure that analysis is understood by both internal and external stakeholders. Deliver post analysis presentations to ensure clarity to stakeholders
  • Representation of Performance Insight in critical organisational projects and forums
  • Report project outcomes in a meaningful and useful manner to relevant stakeholders. This will include identifying significant trends and factors with predictive validity and relationships between them, related to athlete development and progression.
  • Support projects to develop the analytical capability of WCPs by consulting, solving and implement solutions using best practice analytical and management techniques.
  • Proactively contribute to the development of Performance Insights strategy to objectively monitor WCPs and international high performance environments.
  • Support the analytical team’s strategy by developing and maintaining documentation such as project trackers, assumptions logs and quality assurance for own work.
  • Help the Performance Insight team guide and advise GB High Performance staff in the use of data and analysis.
  • Undertake appropriate professional development to keep abreast of world’s best practice.
