About This Role

We are seeking an individual to work with our team to support the development of high-quality qualifications, robust assessments, and materials for UK Coaching’s regulated products, delivered by 1st4sport.

The individual will undertake activities relating to qualification and assessment developments, including examinations, professional standards recognition, and associated products, working with key partners and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the development of high-quality qualifications, robust assessments, and related materials, in accordance with regulatory and organisational requirements.
  2. Develop effective and professional working relationships and practices with key stakeholders and partners in the development of qualifications and assessments.
  3. Lead on the development, application, and ongoing monitoring of external endorsement of qualifications and related products with stakeholders, including Apprenticeship Frameworks, funding, and other bodies.
  4. Undertake reviews and audits on ongoing compliance in own area of work and support colleagues across all activities of compliance for 1st4sport.
  5. Retain, support, and revise the accuracy of data, and completion of records in accordance with regulatory and organisational requirements.
  6. To coordinate with internal and external stakeholders in the development and maintenance of the quality assurance and continuous improvement of assessment products, including qualifications.
  7. Lead on the recruitment, onboarding and contracting of external contractors as directed to undertake development work of qualifications, assessments and related products and services (including assessors, subject matter experts, item-writers etc) as part of the development process.
  8. To liaise with colleagues and key stakeholders to respond to regulators’ requests for information about the qualifications and assessments we offer.
  9. Provide support in maintaining, reviewing, and utilising risk management activities to support regulatory compliance and business continuity.
  10. Undertake other duties as required to support the work of 1st4sport and UK Coaching Solutions
  11. Follow, promote, and implement UK Coaching policies for the equal treatment of all employees, applicants, and customers.

Person Specification

The person we are looking for should have experience working in an awarding body or a training provider on the development of qualifications, examinations and/or regulated assessments. They will be an enthusiastic team player who is willing to play their part in creating and delivering on UK Coaching and 1st4sport goals and objectives. They will be positive; process driven and have great attention to detail.


  • Experience working for an awarding body and/or training provider.
  • Good level of digital literacy including Microsoft packages and project management/recording systems.
  • The ability to learn quickly.
  • Understanding of and experience of working with education regulators.
  • Ability to successfully work individually, with autonomy, and as part of a team.
  • Experience managing multiple processes or projects, and timelines.
  • Excellent written communication and proof-reading skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Remains calm and positive under pressure.
  • Able to communicate directly with stakeholders and partners.


  • Sports or physical activity coaching or sector experience.
  • Experience working with online assessment / portfolio platforms or a learning management systems.
  • Understanding of assessment design and development.
  • Passionate about learning, coaching, education, and development.

Salary and Benefits:

The starting salary for the position will be in the range £30,000 - £35,000 per annum depending upon experience and qualifications. Salaries are reviewed each year in April. This is a full-time role but could be flexible.
