Job Purpose

  • To create high level videos for the showcasing & presenting of shortlisted players to both the Technical Director & First Team Head Coach.
  • Generate new detailed knowledge on players by reporting on 6-10 games per week on video.
  • Conduct research into players’ career biographies, injury histories & their character as a human being.
  • The role will be primarily based at the Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use video telestration software to generate position specific videos of shortlisted target players that are of a level which can be presented directly to both the Technical Director & First Team Head Coach.
  • Report on approximately 6-10 games via video per week; analysing pre-determined teams & players using the club’s bespoke scouting templates on ISF.
  • Effectively utilise available data to make holistic and evidence-based recommendations regarding potential target players in line with our style of play & what we have currently in the First Team & U21 squads.
  • Conduct career/biographical analyses of prospective transfer targets to provide evidence with which subjective scouting opinions can be challenged or confirmed.
  • Carry out rigorous searches on selected players to provide a potential insight into the character/lifestyle of the human being behind the player (e.g. social media, news reports).
  • Conduct injury history audits on prospective transfer targets to ascertain their susceptibility to potential injury and their associated robustness.
  • Compile presentations containing information relating to players under consideration or conducting squad audits of other clubs in the market.
  • Complete any ad-hoc tasks as required such as assisting in the compilation of videos for potential THFC
  • Be willing to work unsociable hours to ensure that the highest quality of work is maintained during critical times of the season (i.e. during & in the build-up to a transfer window).
  • Contribute meaningfully throughout the scouting process (assessment & recommendation).

Key Skills and Experience

  • IT literate and have significant experience of using scouting systems such as ISF, StatsBomb IQ, Wyscout.
  • Significant previous experience of working in a scouting capacity at a professional football club (2 years or more).
  • Excellent technical ability to illustrate a player’s playing profile, including their strengths & weaknesses, using software such as Sportscode, Final Cut and/or Piero.
  • Willingness & inquisitiveness to generate knowledge relating to a player’s profile from a number of different data entry points.
  • Strong work ethic and proactive in formulating the most efficient and prioritised work schedules in relation to the specific scouting/recruitment demands at that time.
  • Enthusiasm to learn new skills while on the job to not only assist in improving the process of presenting a player to the club’s key stakeholders but to also develop themselves as a practitioner.
  • Team player, collaborative & open-minded to adopting a holistic approach to scouting & player assessment.
  • Comfortable working evenings & weekends as it is often required.
