Overview
The Premier League’s Finance Department is looking for a recently qualified Management Accountant to join the team and manage the finances of affiliated companies and be involved in regulatory finances of member clubs. We are looking for a candidate with attention to detail, technical ability and strong interpersonal skills.

We have a wide variety of responsibilities. These include organising the competition and its Rule Book as well as managing the centralised broadcast and commercial rights. The work we do in conjunction with the Clubs also goes far beyond the 90 minutes. We support and provide a framework for youth development, we protect the organisation’s intellectual property, support the wider game and community programmes, undertake international development work and liaise with governing bodies and other leagues.
The role
- Responsibilities will cover the Premier League and other affiliated companies
- Liaising with Club Finance Officers in relation to regulatory submissions including, UEFA Club Licensing and Premier League financial regulations
- Data analysis of the above submissions and general club finance analysis
- Key point of contact for club finance queries
- Responsible for collation and review of youth development financial submissions from clubs.
- Data analysis and preparation of benchmarking reports
- Involvement in ad hoc, Premier League and club finance projects
- Responsible for all financial reporting aspects of Professional Game Match Officials Limited and Football DataCo Limited including:
- Preparation of monthly management accounts
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Statutory accounting and liaison with external auditors
- Corporation tax computations
- VAT return submissions
- Budgeting
- Liaison with the management team of each business
Requirements for the role
- Chartered accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.) – up to two years post qualification
- Attention to detail
- Time management skills, ability to work to deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good IT skills particularly in MS Office
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated and a good team player
Nice-to-haves for the role
- Understanding of football finance regulations and football accounting
- Knowledge of working with accounting software, Microsoft Dynamics
