About the role
The Head of Employee Communications will be instrumental in building the trust and support of The Jockey Club’s employees to deliver our mission of creating a thriving horseracing industry for the good of all.
The Employee Communications team is responsible for ensuring that our leaders and employees, spread across the country in a range of roles, understand, believe in and know what action to take when it comes to delivering our vision and strategy.
You will be an active member of the Corporate Affairs Leadership team, playing a key part in developing The Jockey Club’s engagement strategy, helping it to create the conditions it needs to succeed.

The Head of Employee Communications will
- Use insight to develop and deliver the employee communication strategy to build even greater levels of trust and support.
- Oversee the delivery of the day-to-day drumbeat of employee communications including executive communications, organisational changes and employee events.
- Develop a data-led analytical approach to employee trust and support, identifying and reporting opportunities to bridge the gap between employee expectations and what they experience day to day.
- Work in partnership with the Chief People Officer to develop culture and behaviour change programmes to support the evolution of how we work and get things done.
- Lead and develop the Employee Communication Manager to deliver outstanding results.
- Build a deep understanding of how the business works and the role our employees can play in delivering our objectives with creativity and pace
About you
- You will have significant experience in devising and developing internal communications strategies and tactical plans.
- You will have brilliant written and verbal communication skills.
- You will be comfortable building trusted relationships with leadership at a senior level.
- You will be highly collaborative, with strong stakeholder management skills and a track record of building personal relationships with senior stakeholders and internal teams.
- You will have very good influencing, persuasion, and presentation skills.
- You will have excellent prioritisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate often complex subjects into clear messages for various audiences, adapting or re-planning quickly according to senior stakeholders’ needs or the external environment.
- You will be able to work fully autonomously and confidently, with minimal direction.
