We have a fantastic opportunity for a General Manager to lead our Market Rasen Racecourse providing strategic commercial leadership and operational management.

The General Manager will

  • Manage, motivate, develop, and lead the racecourse team to outstanding service, exceptional customer experience and deliver results.
  • Work closely with the Small Course Director and national teams to agree and implement a cost-effective business strategy for the racecourse that helps deliver the Jockey Clubs overall vision and strategic plan.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage all aspects of the racecourse operation.
  • Act as a Racecourse ambassador, working closely with local key stakeholders to deliver an innovative, comprehensive community engagement plan to maintain, improve and nurture local relationships.
  • Manage in conjunction with the racecourse Chairman, the wider committee to ensure the maximum value is obtained from the committee members and their network.
  • Work closely with the national sales and marketing teams to create an innovative sales and marketing culture which maximizes every opportunity to build the Jockey Club and racecourse brands, driving sales and significantly improving profitability.
  • Drive non-racing turnover by ensuring that the available facilities are fully utilised and exploited commercially for conference, events and leisure business.
  • Consistently monitor racecourse financial performance, with strong control over costs, innovation for key income lines and the development of racecourse forecasts and budgets.
  • Ensure the highest standard of H&S compliance across the site and all events.

  • Proven track record in a customer focused environment
  • Excellent communicator able to influence and a varied range of stakeholders.
  • Experienced people leader who thrives in developing and motivating their team
  • Commercially minded with strong business acumen capable of setting and achieving financial targets.
  • Innovative approach to problem solving with excellent attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant health and safety and environmental legislation.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the Horseracing industry.
